grim, thanks for the help in the past. I have another problem, as with everything I am trying to save some money, you explained that I should run 3 60" t5s on my ice cap ballast and 4 48" on my normal ballast. I have a bunch of bulbs that I got with my retro kits and are still in good condition, less than six months use. Here are the bulbs that I have all in 54w 48":
3qty Geisman actinic, 3qty Uvl super actinic, 2qty ATI blue plus 2qty ATI aqua blue special 1qty ATI actinic 1qty ATI procolor IS there a combination that I could run with these and if so what should I buy in 60" and should I buy other 48 inch? Where should these be placed front to back, should I put 48, 60 alternating, or more 60" towards the front? Any help would be greatly apprecitated, thanks again for all your help. |

So this is a T5 thread, can I ask a combo VHO/t5 question???
I have a 4 72" bulb VHO setup over my standard 180G tank. 2 UV Lighting VHO Bulb Actinic Whites and 2 UV Lighting VHO Bulb Super Actinics I ordered 2 sets of T5 retrofits from hellolights to have two more rows of lighting (set them side by side) I ordered the following lights and they are being shipped now 2 36" 39W Aquasun 10,000K- UV Lighting 2 36" 39W Super Actinic R- UV Lighting I plan on sticking the t5 lamps between the 2 sets of VHO's, so I'll have: Front VHO - super actinic VHO - 10K T5 (x2) - super actinic T5 (x2) - 10K VHO - super actinic VHO - 10K What's the best setup? I'm sure I shodl have got different bulbs, but I rushed into the purchase! btw, I have mostly LPS, some softies.

Lumens don't really matter, it's the PAR that makes it into the tank that counts. For what you are planning you could use either halides or T5's. |

The Nova is an 8x54w where as the constellation 7x54w. Am I missing anything? Are the constellations overdriven to 85w and the Novas aren't?

Who makes the TEK? What about the solar flare powered by Icecap? What do you recommend for a combination of bulbs?

I've got a quick question in regards to Aquactinics new 98% reflectors.
(I currently am running the Ice Cap SLR reflectors.) Due to having a nicely sized Tang, I have kept most of my live rock towards the middle/bottom 50% of the tank, in order to leave plenty of swimming room up top. Getting the light from my T5's down towards the middle/bottom half of my tank is important as I am keeping some SPS. Would the new Aquaticnics 98% reflectors do a better job for my needs then the Ice Cap SLR's? Getting the light further down then the SLR's? Thanks! |

Grim,
I got my 65 gallon set up, and have decided to use the TX5 over it at home instead of my classroom since it seems to be much better than the tek light I have. I'm not doing an anemone after all, but have some sps middle to halfway and up and lps and softies. Since the fixture is only a 5 bulb, not a 4 or 6 like the 2 tek's I have, which bulbs should I use now since I'll have mostly sps and some acan's/chalices? Thanks again so much!

Has anyone measured with a PAR meter the output of these bulbs and how well the light they produce penetrates water? Perhaps there is a website with these figures? I don't think I've heard or read that Sanjay has. Thanks for any help.
Joe
