The output can not be submerged below the water level this will cause backpressure and make it overflow. The water level is fine just make sure the output is not obstructed.

Another thing could be the surface tension of the water or if your live rock is not fully cured.

Can someone tell me where to get one of those dwyer flow meters? I've clicked on the links to the dwyer page noted elsewhere in this thread and it links to a meter that costs 600. I'm happy with the performance of my 200-1260 but would like to optimize it further.

My turn to ask a question now: What are the recommendations for a submersible feed pump for an A250-2x1260? Something along the lines of 1200gph?

If i'm not mistaking the skimmer requires 3000 lph is around 790gph of tank water to feed it.
A Eheim 1262 at max 900gph about 80w will be the ideal pump to feed the skimmer.

Count me in.

Received it today from FedEx. Thanks Brian!

I have the air intake on the silencer. Do I need to clamp the air while it is setting in or leave it wide open?

Just plugged in.

Hi Mike,

Looks like a perfect fit in your sump. Did you modify anything?

Is it already building foam? Kind of see a foamy bubble in the neck.

I think the water level in the neck looks pretty safe. If you close off the tubing just a bit the pump actually pull slightly more air.

On my A200 2x1260 when I had it you could see that. When you choke down air the pump flows more water and less air. What this does in the skimmer body is it spreads out the bubbles. Your skimmer body can actually look like you have more air but all it is doing is it has more water movement pulling air down toward drain intake on the bottom.

When you open air the pump pulls more air/flows less water and makes the bubbles rise in a compact area in the top half of the skimmer body.

After you break in the pump you cantweak the air. With the clamp open you may notice some bigger bubbles in the top of the skimmer body. You can clamp down on the hose slightly and you should see those bigger bubbles go away. then you should be in the sweet spot. Then just play w/ the drain pipe to get the type of skimmate you are looking for.

Chad

Thanks Chad! No modifications at all. Talking with Brian with the measurements it dropped right into the Elos sump4000.

Bubbles are still big but I guess you can say it's starting to foam. The neck is starting to get filmy too.

1 hour pic

So should I keep the water level in the neck right below the cup?

Thanks.

Anyone know where I can get the correct 90 degree elbow that I can point downward into the filter sock? I got a 1 1/4" elbow to fit with the adapter piece that came with it but it sticks out too far.

Run the output to the surface of the water at a slight angle but do not submerge the entire output. This will allow the output to flow freely without creating splash or backpressure.

So who is more fussy? The baby or dad w/o sleep? Maybe mom is the better person to ask?

Congratulations to you and your wife Eric

Take care,

Chad

Congrats Brian!

Thanks for the link. I'll look for the 50mm elbow.

About 12 hours now and I see skimmate.

Mike another thing that may work is to buy (I think ???) a 2" (??) "T" and it will fit over the "T" on the drain pipe. If it is a little loose you can use teflon tape to make it fit.

I'll post a pic of mine in a little bit so you can see. Not sure if my drain pipe is the same size as yours though. I'll measure mine.

Mike,

Here is a pic of my 250 2x1260 drain pipe. I have a 2" sch40 "T".It fits perfectly over the H&S wedgepipe "T".

I could add a small 2" pipe and cap w/ a breather hole in the top of the cap on top of this "T" and it would be absolutely silent. I have the drain at a slight angle as well w/ the bottom half of the pipe submerged and it has no splashing water sound.

Do you think this may work for you?

do you guys with the 200-1260 just leave the fittings between the pump and body as a slip fitting with nothing to hold it together?

that t idea looks promising. I may have to try it

skey44....no need for any type of glue. they will stay together on their own.
