Lost most of livestock due to storm.
Anything I can do besides water changes? Luckily I dont have sand. Power was off around a day and a half before I could get the generator on it. All my SPS are dead except a few montis that I hope pull through.

we lost our power w/ Fay a week ago for 8 hours. Luckily I had bought a battery powered pump and was swapping them between my two tanks. best investment next to my generator.
Sorry for the losses shag.... |

Run carbon, run a diatom filter if you've got it, do water changes. SO sorry to hear.

Anyways, it really sucks to learn things the hard way, I know that in the greater picture I have plenty of times over. I guess now you know how valuable a cheap battery operated air pump can be. |

I would turn the lights off to help the monti survive.
I had a power outage for two days, and I lost most of a nice orange plating monti. (along with half of the rest of the tank) The parts that survived were a frag at the bottom of the tank, and the "shaded" parts of the plating monti (which I did not know survived, but when I finally knocked the dead parts off, the shaded area was doing fine and growing). The monti intially looked ok after the outage, but then started looking progressively worse, and all the high-light exposed areas died, so there must be some kind of stress that light creates that doesn't hurt the healthy ones. Anyone care to comment? |

yes, I decreased the photoperiod, a few of the acros still have flesh on the tips so Ill see what happens. I tossed alot of them that were definitely gone. Montis are still looking good along with a few other LPS

yeah, I guess I might try to pick up a frag pack when I get some money, just so it doesnt look so empty. Im angry because everything was doing so well. I now have a battery air pump and am thinking about ordering a Vortech backup battery if I get a chance.
