September club meeting

Members

The ETRC has been invited by Sustainable Aquatics to conduct our September club meeting at their hatchery. Access to their facility is normally closed to the general public. This is a real privilege. They are only offering access to club members. If you are a member, please let me know if you are planning to attend. If you haven’t paid your dues, PM me. I will give you a mailing address and let you know how much $$. Only current members will be allowed to attend this meeting.

The meeting will start at 1:00 pm on Saturday the 20th of September. More details about food, carpooling, and other useful information will follow.

You may have noticed – the club is going to purchase a PAR meter. It will most likely be at the meeting. The meter will be club property and can be loaned to club members.

Don’t miss this opportunity to visit the Sustainable Aquatics hatchery and join other club member for a good and informative time.

Eddie

I plan to attend so long as I can bring my two sons along with me. Is that okay, Matt?

Matt.

Thanks for suppling the answer. Kids should only be a negative issue if they exhibit negative behavior. This applies to all of us kids of course.

It occurs to me, however, that negative behavior for some may not be negative behavior to others.

It should not need to be said, but, since I am old and cranky, I will say it -- We all need to respect the time, effort, money, care, emotion, etc. that the Carberrys have invested in the business.

Thanks, Matt. The older boy is jealous that his little brother got to see the setup in your house and both have been chattering off and on about seeing your "big" setup. I'll make sure they don't go swimming in your display pond or bang on the fish tanks to watch the baby fish jump. I am not a parent to skimp on discipline.

Don't forget folks -- this trip is for members or ETRC. If you are a paid member, let us know you are coming so we can get a head count. If you are not paid up through June 09, send me a check. I can let you know how much you need to pay in a PM. If you are unable to send me a check by mail, PM that you plan to attend and pay at the door.

There will be no unexpected walk-ins allowed.

We need to respect the wishes of SA.

Eddie

I don't know what is going on with our website since I handed the keys over to somebody else, but send me directions and I'll post direction flyers there.

Right now the weather looks like it should be good, and we have a grill @ SA, so I was thinking of maybe brats and burgers w/ members supplying some 'fixins? We have a small deck & table out there too, although if it's raining we can sit in the kitchen &/or conference room and cook inside or run out to the grill

I'm surprised about the lack of coordination between the ETRC meetings and UT football. Get your priorities straight, people!

Seriously though, how far is the facility from Knoxville? We're hosting the game at 3:30 here at the crib-stead.

Oh, they're straight all-right Meetings are always 3rd Sat. to allow everyone to schedule, although sometimes there are inconveniences.... I've missed my fair-share of ETRC meetings in the name of the UT athletic program; I figure my dues are paid

For those wanting to get back to watch the game, would it help if we moved it an hour earlier? I just didn't want to make it too early for those driving (allow ~1hr from W. Knoxville).

Thanks Dana, frosty beverages are a go, but unfortunately we don't have a (big) TV at the hatchery, only a small one in one of the offices. Trey wanted to get a big plasma screen for the kitchen, but we haven't gotten-around to it yet

Ok, how about a 12:00 lunchtime meeting then?

I've sent directions to be posted on the ETRC website. You can also find the address on our website www.sustainableaquatics.com under "Contact Us."

It is pretty much a straight-shot from the interstate with only one turn onto Old AJ from 11-E/Asheville Hwy:

From Interstate 40 (or likely 640) going East from Knoxville, take Exit 394 (Asheville Hwy, US-11E). This is the first exit after 640 re-joins 40. Make a left at the bottom of the exit and take 11-E for 20 miles. This will take you through Strawberry Plains, New Market (don't speed here!), and to the edge of Jefferson City. Make a left turn onto Old Andrew Johnson Hwy (at the traffic light opposite the hospital). Take Old AJ for 1.9 miles, and SA will be on the left-hand side.

There is a sign out-front that says "Sustainable Aquatics."

The best place to park is probably on the slanted parking-lot just east of the building. We will have the blue side-door open for people to come in.
