The Current LED PowerBrite strips add a lot of shimmer. If it's a canopy you could keep the VHO's and throw in a couple LED strips easy for a shimmer effect.

reef... how long have you had the AI and what has your success been keeping coral? Do you have SPS? How are they doing?

jtma508, This is on a new system only set up June this year. I did have a Solaris unit before I got the Aqua Illumination. The Solaris was here before I received the tank, the tank was probably one of the last ones built by AFY before they went out of business. I had the Solaris for about 6 weeks previously and had nothing but trouble from it! No need to say more, but did get "all" my money back from Solaris. This is a new reef but I do have several SPS in there. All are doing great except the last ones received. The last ones I received are very light in color which has nothing with the lights as they came in alive but without any color. Time will tell on them. My reef is 30" deep and the biggest problem I had with both led lights mention is that they are more like a spot and do not spread like a MH does. Seems to me that if your tank is more than 24" front to back you need to do what I did or get two rows of leds, OUCH! I have rearranged the light to suit my reef's needs and it is working well! This is something ya can not do with Solaris, only with Aqua Illumination as the Aqua Illumination are set up on rails. Again the shimmer is not a problem, you just need to have your currents set up that the water ripples.
