Ahhh... well if that's what the pump is rated at for normal use, then it should come down quite a bit once you add a pinwheel and start pulling air with it. How much is hard to tell without putting a kill-a-watt on it. I would suggest that some of the retailers that have these skimmers set up and running do this and provide some good wattage #'s because right now, I'd say that's just about everyones hang up on the 250 model. At 140 watts, it's not even worth looking at IMO. D

Thinking about getting one of these to replace my Octo NW 200 recirc. Do they make a recirc model?
If not, I will make the transition to in-sump. Get the pics coming.

I have been running it a little on the low side just to be safe and with out the extra pipe pointing down on the exhaust side of hte skimmer, I did add that back tonight. and will be bumpng up a little more. Here are just a couple more pics tonight. I did clean it out yesterday morning.

How is the noise/vibration on the pumps shipping with these Vertex skimmers? 'cause I just got my Vertex Zeo reactor this last weekend, and it came with a Chinese knock-off/exact clone (but cheaper) of the Sedra 2000—and GOOD LORD!, talk about a LOUD pump. It was horrendous! It's the loudest aquarium pump (air pumps aside) that I've ever dealt with in 20 years. It actually, from INSIDE the cabinet, drowned out my Vortech! I replaced it with an actual Sedra 2000 today, and whew, things are much, much quieter around here today... I use to joke about how noisy Sedras where, I guess it's karma coming to bite me back in the butt...!
Really interested if these skimmers are shipping with the same Sedra knock-offs that could wake Oscar Wilde from the dead...?!

resun pumps are the cheapest, crappest pumps avaliable here in thailand they are scarily inefficient and of poor build quality. Just to put them in perspective, they cost peanuts.
Its funny because they are not known in the US really, but they are poor, cheap pumps IME.

LOUD! Oh, well, I guess reefers on a budget will have no problem wearing ear muffs while admiring their reefs. Another plus is that you no longer have to worry about Dursos or Stockmans or any of those overflow box standpipe silencers. Just let the water fall into your overflow sans standpipe--you'll never hear the crashing water over one of these Resun pumps...!

Actually my sicce pump on the msx skimmer was louder than the pump on this skimmer. I run a pretty quiet tank. The pump is slilent. The only thing I can hear is the air draw. And with the door closed you cant hear anything. But thats just what I have running here. I have no issues with mine what so ever.

Does anyone have tissue for Todd's ears. I think if he posts another post about how Loud the pump is, we might need to rename this thread. LOL
How long have these been available to the public? Does anyone have pics of how the pump is attached to me body? May try to attach a different pump. Thanks.

I can take one if you like. But it just a slip fit. You could replace this with any other pump later on down the road very easily if you wanted too. I will let it go a month ot two. But it would be very easy to recirc this skimmer as well.

Thanks Mojo. How long have you had your skimmer?
Is the pump connected with a 90 elbow?

yepjust a 90 degree elbow. this skimmer has only been up and running 5 days !!! Looks pretty good for 5 days. At least i think so. And again. As I poingted out the skimmer is pretty quiet. Would be better if a it had a silencer on the air inlet. The pump makes no noise at all. I did clean it out monday night. I have been running it low as it breaks in but seems to be pretty good. I am going to make a air silencer this weekend. Shouldnt take too long just need to stop by home depot.
