this fish had/has ich, but what are these black spots?

not black ich, its not black specks, it looks like he got beat up... which I guess is possible? but I kind of dont think thats it...

sorry for the lousy pic, iphone+moving fish, not good but you can kinda get the idea

we're talking about the sohal in the foreground, the yellow eye may also have ich, but he does not have big *** sores on him atleast.

Maybe he ran into the rocks or was fighting with the other tang? Looks kind of like an injury to me.

if it is war wounds, first off, he's getting his butt kicked, and he isnt apparently doing any damage to anyone else.

the rabbitfish is flawless, the powder brown is also flawless, the only other one acting funny is the yellow eye tang, but he doesnt appear at all injured and is generally hiding, I dont know when he has the time to pop out from behind the rocks to lay such a beatdown on the sohal.

Since that is a sohal they are very sensitive to water quality. Make sure your water specs are in line. Post your parameters. I have one that eats like a hog and gets this every time the nitrates go up

he has ich, so he has been itching on rocks and the sand, but I wouldnt think he would do that to himself... unless he's rubbing against a green galaxy coral that stings... Id assume he'd learn not to do that after a time or 2 though. its not like its so large he cant avoid it, its maybe an inch diameter in a 8' tank.

water specs are in the trash.

I had an anenome die a day after I got this guy. prior to that of course they were fine, now though Im reading .5 of ammonia in the tank. already added prime to try and bind the ammonia and have the RO/DI running 24/7 for water changes.

perhaps I should try to catch the sohal and put him in the fuge? he can gorge himself on cheato and get some time away from the other fish... its 75g, should be plenty large.

Ok that is the issue. Use amquel to reduce ammonia, also make sure your PH is not too high because ammonia becomes more toxic in high PH areas. Continue the water changes, might want to add a stress coat to prevent ich from returning, or any other infections. Watch him closely for any other issues. Feed him al ot of seaweed (dried), spirulina brine shrimp and vitamins.

Don't try to catch him because you will over stress him. He will be fine as long as you get your parameters in check. Also the cheato hold a lot of nitrates and phosphates back so letting him eat that will for sure kill him.

well cant catch him anyway. been feeding him garlic seaweed. the prime has stress coat and ammonia remover in it all in 1, seems to be working well on the corals lol slimey. sohal unfortunatly came from the store like this, well not like THAT, he had ick, not 12roundswithtyson desease. but he didnt have much color at the store, and ate like a champ. figured he was just stressed, couldnt see ich till he was in the tank and relaxed.

dumb move on my part I know now. its been 4 or 5 days so far though, and he still eats... infact despite looking like death, he is out there swimming around with the rabbit and powder brown, not fighting, never seen him fight with anyone infact.

for some reason my skimmer hasnt been pulling ANYTHING, its not even making foam. no clue why, euroreef rc500, and Im putting garlic soaked seaweed in the tank and seachem prime, and its not doing ANYTHING. or perhaps thats normal... garlic oil=no skimming?

Prime is likely your issue because it has sulfide in it which makes skimmer either go nuts or not work at all. But keep it going anyways to re-oxygenate the water. You also might try cleaning the air intake and the entire skimmer, they need that every month or so to keep their performance up.

I bought it use a week ago, it was running fine, still running fine, but the water line is where the bubbles stop, they just dont hold into a foam at all. they float up and pop like a flat soda.

Something in your water is causing this. I would let it aerate the water and continue to do 20-30 percent water changes daily.
