The framing is done on the fish room, waiting on the inspector come and inspect the walls and the roof.
Now we have to move both tanks off the existing wall and put one on each side of the pool table.... I wish I could sell Ed's tank so we only have to move it one time!

A lot of construction going on in the fish room.
The roof was installed and passed inspection!
We have all the plumbing in, all the electrical was finished today & will be inspected tomorrow.
The AC guys will be here on Thursday.
The sinks, counter tops & cabinets will be installed next week.
We moved the 135 FOWLR tank today and the 120 reef tank tomorrow. THEN they will make a HUGE hole in the wall for the tank. We will start to build the stand on Wednesday or Thursday (Thanks Alpine)
All of the material arrived today to start building the light rack, our original plan was to build a light rack 90"x30"
(thanks Glassreef for all your help!)
after looking & looking at the room we decided to split the rack so it moves completely away from the tank.
We will take pics of the progress.
The lights will be here hopefully by this weekend.

WOW, came a long way since I last checked in...I love builds that go beyond building a stand and setting the tank on it (like my next build ). Keep up the great work!

BTW your house is gorgeous!!!

I too feel bad for that plumber; back in the day I installed Koi ponds, waterfalls and such, and we had to dig under a few driveways....never again!!!

Thanks for checking in!

and thanks for the complement on our home.

I felt so bad for the plumber too, all I could do was offer something cold to drink and a cold rag to wipe his face with

Hi Sandy - looks like you've definitely got eveything under control. You and I ordered exacly the same components from Neptune - right down to going for the lab grade conductivity probe. That Deltec is a nice skimmer!

How's Ed doing with the light rack? I really like the idea of making two racks and setting up the slides to the side. Can't wait to see pics of your progress.

Funny how that works?

I LOVED the Neptune web site.. Ed had to pull me away!

The Stand is almost completed, I'll try and post pictures tonight.
The windows and doors are almost finished and the dry wall is supposed to be done today!
gosh I really hope so!
Our grandson is due tomorrow! so I'll be busy going to the hospital to him oh, yes, my daughter too!

Yes, I really enjoy that skimmer, esp. the self cleaning head!

We are going to start the light rack this week, I'll keep you posted.

Hey! Huge congratulations on the imminent birth of your grandson! Just a wee bit more important than an aquarium, I guess ...

Here is how our game room looks with both tanks moved out of the way

I can honstely say this is the 1st time this wall had no aquarium since the day we purchased this home

so here we have the 120 reef on the left of the pool table and the 135 FOWRL on the right side.

We drained the 120 down to about 3" of water we left the rock and fish in the tank, and were able to lift the 120 just enough to put furniture mover's under all 4 corners and SLIDE the tank to on the left side of the pool table

You're not going to leave one tank running first until your new tank is cycle??

building the stand:
we used "yella wood" 2x6 & 2x8, with 3/4" plywood lid, we used 2-1/2 & 3-1/2 s.s. deck screws, and Elmer Nano glue and galvanized angle braces, and Bondo.

The opening for the new tank

here is the front ledge of the tank stand, we used 2x6 to shore it up

here it is integrated into the framing of the wall, between the existing home and the new room

after shoring both sides and middle supports of the new tank,
we are building the sides of the stand, accommodating the slope in the floor

Checking level

extended tank stand dimensions 6" to accommodate a ledge for standing

here we used 3 2x6 glued and screwed together to support the center of the stand.

we used galvanized angled bracing to support tank stand

Hi Ed,
Oh, yes, both tanks are still up and running!
We are going to set up the new tank and let it cycle before we moved anything.
