Here are a few pictures of my new baby clown. I've had the other one for about 3 years. He (now a she) recently lost it's mate.

Yep, so far so good. The size difference is hard to see but the baby is much much smaller than the other one. The baby went in the anemone just a few minutes after I added him to the tank. He's a quick learner!

I should also add, there are 5 anemonies for them to choose from! I've had a few splits and they all settled in the underside or crevace of the rocks, so I can't get them out.

That is called growth. You don't get to complain about the happier parts of your reef.

Not complaining right now. They all seem to be staying in place. However if they decide to walk...

It looks like just another version of cyano bacteria. It can come in various colorations, in my experience.

So would the red slime killer take care of it?

I like Chemi-Clean, or Blue Life USA Red Slime Control. Both work great in my system as necessary.

Gabriel's tank is the only one that I know of that had a problem after using Blue Life's Red Slime Control. I really wish he'd taken pictures of that event. He did purchase some questionable LR from another hobbyist who's tank was crashing, so I tend to think there was a relation between the two. No-one's water turns red after killing cyano that I've ever heard of.

Some clarification. I have been waiting until my negotiations with Blue-Life are finished to tell the whole story. I will on my thread once it is done. The LR was not from a tank crashing it was from someone downsizing to a Solana. The Dr. at Blue-life seems to think I had a different strain of cyano or something else in my tank that was affected by the product that then released a toxin. That is the cliff notes version. Like I said a full description will come in my thread hopefully in the near future.

I've used chemi-clean before on red slime wtih ok results. When I turn my skimmer on it alwys goes too crazy and I end up just leaving it off then turn it back on after a water change. I'm a little concerned to do this since it's not truly a "red" slime.

Glad to hear it Gabriel. It is the only report I'd heard, and it was about two months ago when you talked of it.

I thought you got the rock from Andrew. Something was definitely up in his system.

Well, it isn't red slime anyway. It is Cyano Bacteria, and in full bloom. We just nicknamed it red slime because of what it looks like and feels like.

You definitely want to do a large water change before starting up the skimmer. Adjust the skimmer to its lowest setting, and be prepared to throw out a lot of watery skimmate. I just replace it with more saltwater as needed during the next 6 to 9 hours. On my system, that means about 12g of new saltwater to replace what is being 'wasted'.

So as not to derail Micki's thread too much I will post this last bit and then save it for my thread.

It was from Andrew's tank. However, I am unaware of any problems he was having. He sold all his corals and in fact the only 2 SPS that survived where the 2 encrusted bases that had hitchhiked in on the live rock.

Micki I think you will probably be safe in dosing your tank. However, I think you should realize that there is a risk even if it is very small. I may have been only 1 in 30,000 (not a number I made up by the way) but it still happened. I have always been of the opinion don't add anything to your tank you can't test for. The one time I went against that I got burned. Just my .02. I hope you have success getting rid of it no matter what course you choose.
