Here is mine. I got the IN-100. It was a tight squeeze for this sump. The area it sits in is 9 1/2 x 9/12 wide. I had to rebuild it in the sump. It replaced a Odyssea. This is the first skimmer that I bought besides the Odyssea that came with the tank. I've got tons of bubbles and every now and then the foam rises to the top of the collection cup. I have a small bioload so this should work fine. I learned the hard way to lower the volumn in the column before removing the collection cup and spilled water. My plug to my main pump was smoking but everything is fine now. Skimmate is wet and light green now but I only had it connected since last night. Unit is built solid and pump is silent

Thanks for the pics Tom, though you might want to replace those metal ties with some plastic zip ties.. Looks like they're starting to rust?
Are you running it in 7 inches?

Hi All,
Just a quick fyi, I mesh modded my IN-100 to test and it works great. Bubbles are more dense and pump is drawing approx 19 watts according to my kill a watt. I used 2 layers of enkamat pf4 flatback and fishing line to secure the mesh. The pump and impeller is almost dead on in comparison to my sedra 3500 on my old Euro-reef rs100. The needle wheel on the euro seems of better quality though. No matter I guess now that im running mesh. HTH |

cool, love to see pics of performance with meshmod definitely would love to see what they pull with air meter. Guess i'm gonna have to order an extra impellar and try some mesh also to see.

Did anyone think of modifying their skimmer with a small fan that would blow the foam off the top of the riser into the collection cup? I have a huge foam ball at the top that keeps expanding and contracting. Am I running it too dry?

you could give wedge pipe a slight turn and give it an hour to see how it does, thats what i did. I barely turned it and waited an hour or so. Once it starts breakin in you might have to turn back a little.

Hey d.French,
Here are a few pics of my skimmer after using mesh. The bubble quality seems better then the original needle wheel and the bubbles are more dense. Good Luck with your mesh mod. I think you will see a performance improvement as well. :-) |

They seem to be working great, Congrats. It doesnt have to be a $500 pump or a coned body to have great results. If it is working for you go with it and dont get discouraged from certain people

Had too many pics for 1 post
Running in my live rock tank in the basement:
You may have noticed in the pictures/read earlier in the thread that I got a collection cup with hazing. My pump also quit running overnight. I took out the impeller and put it back in and it started running again (common story). Premium Aquatics is sending me new for both items ASAP. Thank you, PA! Here's what the collection cup looks like: |

Dang. That is quite alot of product malfunctions/defects in a short amount of time. I hope this isn't like the XBOX Red Ring of death... I will let everyone know how my experience goes tommorrow when I get home from work. I can hardly contain myself.

it is not uncommon for a product line to have a few glitches in there early stages to use your reference I remember the xbox 360, Wii and PS3 all have problems with the 1st release. the thing is the customer service. I paid $80 bucks for my xbox 360 because it had the ring of death Microsoft replaced it for me problem solved. PA along with Vertex has taking care of any and all issues.

Mine is skimming away with no issues and I have never seen such polyp extension on my frogspawn. For the price and performance this is a great skimmer.
