cleaning freshwater tank for saltwater conversion
Had my cichlids in a 75 bought a 125 for em. What is the best way to clean the 75 for a conversion. In the past with previous tanks I have used 1 capful of bleach per 10 gallons,but I know cichlids can live in a toliet.Would vinegar and water be the best aproach?

when I had had the tank set up for cichlids after 7 months or so I had a fry of jack dempsey babies and momma and daddy had gotten so a agressive I moved my other cichlids to another tank. After this I drained the tank and put new water in the tank. I had a green water algae bloom,which I treated with algae destroyer plus. Aside from that I have not treated the tank with anything asides from stress coat and aquarium salt. My main concern is the fact it sat without anywater circulation for a week and my son dumped an entire flake food can in it causing it to stink.

Also when I had it setup for fresh I had an electric blue crawfish in it so I had to be careful what I introduced to the tank,ie no metal,copper

best bet is to fill the tank with 1 part vinegar to 3 or 4 parts water and let it soak overnight, then drain and just wash out with clean fresh cold tapwater, then allow it to dry, this usually does the trick, also before adding any water and starting a cycle ask for help or read the stickys, dont start the cycle without test kits and a log book, any help just ask
