After being trapped in the overflow he might be just hiding from the light, just give it time.
If you had a pair the other one might not recognize it as the partner so watch for some agression, otherwise he will be OK.

It's a very good sign that it is taking food... I think it will eventually get its bravery back! good luck!

here is a short history

after cycling my 3x2x2 feet tank, i transfer my smaller percula(1") from my nano tank
2 weeks later bought a slightly bigger(1.5") percula
apart from small fight, everything seems pretty okay

got myself a pair of black percula(2") after 6 weeks
again small fight happens but still acceptable

then 1 day, the larger percula jump into the overflow
i manage to catch it a week later and release back to the main tank

after this incident, the larger percula keep hiding

the small percula is still happily swimming and fighting with the black pair thou

cheers

Well, you have TWO sets of clowns in a small tank. That simply will not work. You will end up with ONE pair, maybe. Take out one pair and your problem will be solved. By the way, when I ask for water parameters, telling me the "same" does not cut it. You want help, please provide information. Mind reading is difficult.

i notice whenever the hiding clown comes out, the black percula pair will chase after it
resulting back to its hiding place again

thinking of isolating the black pair in a breeder box for a week
can this solve the problem? will it stress the black pair?

thanks

The problem was already told to you. You can only have ONE pair of clowns in a tank your size, or in most any tank except very large ones. Selling one pair is the only way to solve your problem. They are very territorial and will fight until the weaker pair is killed! And all will probably be injured. Your hiding fish is extremely stressed, it would be cruel not to remove him.

Yes, it is too small for two pair.

ba-reefer: he has two pair of clowns, which means 4.

I'll say it again. Your tank is too small for two pair of clowns. It doesn't matter how large the fish are.

i love all 4 of them

does putting in an anemone helps? as 1 of the pair will host while the other wanders about?

cheers

I had a flame hawk in an overflow box for about 4 days and a lawn mower blenny for a month. Both started acting normal after a while.

That is the way it is. Two will be killed unless they are removed. It will take a while, but it will happen. An anemone will possibly make it worse rather than better. Basically, you shot yourself in the foot by adding TWO pairs of clowns to a SMALL tank.

Is there any way you can put one pair of clowns back into your nano tank?

Then you will have four happy clownfish.

Take one pair of the clowns out and the problem is solved. It is that simple. I love dogs but I know that I can only care for the two that I have. That is the reason I don't have four of them. Not trying to be a jerk. This is a simple solution. As simple as it gets in a reef tank.

There have been numerous posts that your problem is that you have two pairs, however, it doesn't sound like you want to hear or believe anyone, but it's true.

Just an fyi..there is NO solution..especially if they are juveniles..it may take 6 months or so but sooner or later one pair WILL kill the other in that size tank..as they mature they become MUCH more territorial. Course we all make choices.

p.s. I am not trying to be judgemental..we all make mistakes..but when I made my mistake in the choice of fish I gave them away for free to someone who had a tank that could support the fish..that is what I meant by choices and such.
