Thanks man... I struck out with every clown/nem combination before. I'm pumped that these guys worked out.

Guess the RBTA is staying now.

Thanks... I'm pretty excited about it. My little sister was already in bed when I noticed it... but she's going to flip when she sees it tomorrow.

Side note... Even with the large bottom piece, the waste container is still too light, and floats whenever the ATO reservoir is filled. So I have 2 options I can pursue...

a.) Run a long tube across my sump over to where the Ca Reactor is, and set the container in front of the reactor, outside the sump.

b.) Drop a 5lb dumbbell in the container (which is enough to sink it), and leave it as is.

TJ may still change his mind when the nem grows and starts zapping his beautiful SPS.

I'd probably vote option b, that way if it overflows, it overflows back into another container

Hey TJ,

What pump is that switch turning on and off? More importantly, how many watts?

I just did a presentation about ATOs to our club last night, and showed that exact method of how I have mine wired, but then I went into the discussion about how to use Aquahub's better, safer relay system. Using a 12v relay with 12v power supply, it can trigger and allow 110v to pass through the cord to the item plugged in (your skimmer pump). That way the switch can't be overpowered and burn up.

On my own system, the switch is powering a AquaLifter, a pump that uses 3w of power. It doesn't pull enough juice to nuke the switch.

So while it may be working perfectly, I would just like to recommend you explain to your tank sitters what to do if that switch fails while you are out of town. Clearly mark the cord from the skimmer's pump so they know to relocate it if something goes wrong, where to plug it in, and what to do about waste accumulation in the waste collector or skimmer cup. Basically a just-in-case scenario.

Well... I'm here

My flight ended up getting delayed for about 3-1/2 hours, so I got in a little late. The first thing I noticed when I walked into my Uncle's house... a 270g L-shaped FOWLR tank.

Thanks...I ended up SOL on my previous attempts., so I'm pretty excited this match worked out. I'm going to cut back on feedings for the RBTA now that they paired up. Initially I was nervous about the RBTA being too small, so I was feeding it 2-3 times per week with Mysis and Brine Shrimp.

Haha... hopefully that won't happen too quickly. I've heard that some people have had BTA's and SPS live together without conflict. The RBTA has been slapping up against my RDE Zoanthids and Steel Blue Chalice, and thus far I haven't noticed any damage.

If it does become an issue, I may have to talk to Keith about a Clown/Anemone tank.

I actually sat the container beside the stand. It just seemed to be a safer alternative with my rushed time frame. My little sister is supposed to call me later today, and give me a status updae.

Aww.... shucks... that's not what I wanted to hear. The pump is a Sicce PSK-2500. I think it's 23 watts.

I guess the nice thing is that the skimmer pump is plugged into a white extension cord (the only white cord under the stand) so it sould be easy to locate if something goes wrong.

I totally left my camera on my dresser at home as I was rushing out the door to get to my delayed flight.

The tank is pretty unique in it's shape, but it could be an amazing setup with a little TLC. Apparently the tank was already set up when they bought the house 11 years ago. One of the first things I noticed was how few fish were in the tank... then I noticed a MASSIVE Clarkii clownfish... my unlce says the fish has to be 13+ years old, and takes out any fish they try to add.

My Uncle invited me down to see the area and do some job searching.

I'm hoping to meet up with Pete and Marc to see their setups while I'm down here.

Glad to hear you made it safe and sound to Texas. I think if had an aggresive fish that kept taking out my new additions, He'd be the next thing to get taken out...lol
I've never been a fan of Clarkii's thou.
