I am just curiuos what everyone has in their quarantine tank? Do you have a sand be or just bare bottom? What type of filtration do you use?

Mine is bare bottom with a couple of fake rocks to hide in. I use a simple hang on the back filter, a heater, thermometer, a small powerhead and a little seachem ammonia sensor. I still check ammonia with tests, but like the little badge just in case there is a spike.

I use a 30 Gallon tank, with a heater and Emperor filter. A quarantine tank could be as simple as a Rubbermaid container with a heater and filtration.

I have a 29 gallon tank with hang on the back filter. I am thinking about removing the sand that I have in it, should I?

I think that I will run it bare bottom to make it easier to clean.

Mine has been making a strange transformation from qt tank to frag tank to mini-reef tank. I guess I just can't help myself!

Common for QT's to be bare bottom but some almost look like a small display. The major thing is, if the tank is not going to be medicated, make it as elaborate as you wish. The tank should be very sparse if the tank is also used as a hospital tank where medications are added. The unmedicated tank can be used to QT everything while one that has been medicated for fish should not be used for corals and other inverts.

My QT has a cheapo hang on the back filter, about 15 pounds of LR, and is barebottom. If medication is needed, the live rock can easily be removed. To me it seems like it'd be a pain to have sand in a QT.

BB with a hang on filter, heater and small power head. If I have time a foam pad for the filter goes in the DT sump to get seeded with bacteria. If I make an impulse buy then a piece of LR I have in the sump goes in. I also put some PVC elbows in for hiding places.

Thanks for all of the help. I think I will remove the sand and run the tank bare bottom.

20 long with large pieces of PVC fitting scattered about for places to hide. Simple hang on back filter, heater and I test a lot. Other than that, it should just be as simple as possible for the transition for the fish.
