What is the best salt?

Anyone ever use the Get Tanked organic Salt? What is tthe best brand to use?

You are going to get a lot of diff answers and IMHO there probably is no truely "best salt" out there. I use IO with no issues at all.

I have used IO Reef Crystals for almost 4 years, I have recently started using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix and I love it. In my opinion the salt that is the best is the salt that works the best with your system.

That is a great statement. I have even used the Petco brand salt and it worked pretty good. The IO mixes better though then the Petco brand.

This topic keeps getting brought up recently. I think Reef Crystals changing their formula prompted it. Run a search and you'll hear recent complaints about R.Crystals. Personally, i tried it once and didn't like it, but that's just my preference.

You're going to get lots of different opinions on salt mixes, but they all seem to do a good job.

I use Red Sea Coral Pro, myself, after switching from Red Sea salt. I think it's great salt but I won't bash any other salt out there.

as for the Get Tanked salt, I have no experience with this.

I use IO and dose as needed. It sucks that I have to dose it but it's always been very consistant.

I started with RC, then switched to tropic marin pro-reef which was great, it mixed well and everyhitng was happy. I now use red sea coral pro because I got a bucket on sale, and it is very nice. Mixes well, takes a little longer than tropic marin, but all my corals are really happy.

I agree that's why i ended up switching.

I use oceanic. I like it, mixes real fast. I've heard that it is better to stay with the same salt, that switching brands can cause problems

I'm using Oceanic on my new tank. It's consistently high in Calcium (460+) but a bit low in Alk and PH...so I dose a little bit of buffer each week and have very stable params. I also think it's high in Mag which my LPS seem to love as far as I can tell from their polyp extension, fullness and growth compared to when I used Instant Ocean, Tropic Marin, and Red Sea Coral Pro on previous tanks - just my experience.

It's mainly an LPS tank and I've having great results so am not going to change.

I use Reef Crystal and I have no problems. Mt parameters are always fairly stable. Good Ca/Alk/Mag levels with little dosing and a kalk drip.

i use oceanic also because it's high in calc/mag, you just have to dose a bit of baking soda to keep the alk up

"Aquarium Water Testing" (the laboratory water testing service) did a comparison of the major brands, testing 15 parameters (Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, Iodine, Copper, Silica, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Strontium, Molybdenum, Alkalinity, Boron and Bromine). The study certainly doesn't answer the question of which salt is best, but it does make for interesting reading and comparisons.
