BUBBLE ALGEA

how do you get rid of it and how do you prevent it from spreading and prevent it at all if needed

the best way is to take the live rock out and scrub it off. If you can't do that take a pair of tweezers and grab it from the base and pluck it off.

some emerald crabs will eat it

Read this thread for info http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-0...ture/index.php
As capn_hylinur said plucking and some emerald crabs, but the crabs is a crap shoot. Some will and some won't eat it for whatever reason.

Some species of Rabbitfish (like Foxfaces) have been reported to eat it.

Here's what I did - I didn't have a lot of bubble algae, and I thought it was kind of pretty, but I decided to get rid of it after hearing people didn't seem to like it in their aquariums

When I was siphoning out water during my water change, I put the siphon tube on top of the bubble; then I scraped the bubble off the rock to dislodge it and suck it up the tube instantaneously. I wasn't using any sort of vacuum attachment on my siphon tube, so the tube fit nicely around the bubbles and had lots of suction.

Just an idea.

If you don't have much, siphoning or plucking is a good way.

I broke down an entire tank and scrubbed all the rocl, dunked it, scrubbed the entire tank, and replaced all plumbing when it got out of control in my old tank. Been lucky since and have seen none of it.

+1 on this method. Works pretty good, and keeps the spores from invading the rest of your reef.
