Wavemaker recommendations?

OK, I have two Hydor Koralia 2s andtwo Koralia 3s in my 60 gallon tank on 24 x 7.

What I would like is 2 - 4 pumps on a wave maker so I can control the pulse/cycle and reduce power during the midnight cycle.

So, based on your experience, etc. Which is the better system?

1) Hydor Koralia Wave Maker Controllable (12v version)

2) Tunze nano stream with multicontroller

3) Ecotech Vortech MP10?

4) other?

I don't know that one is better than another, but they are all different. I'm only have experience with the Tunze controller, but I think it's great. They have a new controller out now too (7096).

When I was shopping around for powerheads there were plenty of people happy with their Vortecs but also a good number of people not happy with them (I know a few). It put me off, plus they're a little noisy to my taste, admittedly I'm very sensitive to noise.

For the money I just didn't trust the Koralias enough to pull the trigger. I figured either of the others is a safer bet for that much cash.

Maxijet mod on a simple wavetimer might be another option, I prefer the ease of use of my 7095 though.

I'd personal lean toward the tunze or Koralia because you can adjust where they point as opposed to the Vortech which is rather fixed in position.

I wouldn't consider maxi-jet (+/-mods) because they need a kickstart to get them going once shut off. Not at all reliable. I would certainly expect problems with a wave making timer.

I love the DC voltage of the Koralias but my god, I can't get over the fact that it looks like a Legg's Egg in the darn tank!

Direction of not, the fact that these can produce a standing wave plus the low in-tank profile, I'd go Vortech

Brian, I know you like your Vortec's but it sure seems like there are a lot of issues with them. Don't get me wrong I think the idea is great but seems like there are some kinks to iron out still. Are yours the Gen1 or Gen2? I read a couple places some talk about the Gen1's possibly being better built?
