Live Rock Suggestions

I'm looking for as many opinions as I can get. Its been awhile since I've bought live rock and I need to know your opinion on what is the best live rock, and where is the best online store to buy it from? I searched the forums, but didn't find anything recent. Links would be helpful. I'm looking to stock a 29 gallon reef. Is 2 LBS per gallon the norm? Also, if you know of a recent thread on this subject, I won't be offended if you slander my searching skills and provide a link to it

I prefer Kupang as you can find some odd shapes and stuff. Marshall Island rock is also nice, but it's very dense and not very branching like. The density of different rock determines how many lbs/gal you need to have. Just fill your rock until you like how it looks, and that will be good enough. I do think it's best to mix as many kinds of rock as you can find, as each will come with different algaes/hitch hikers

I use dry rock and seeded with coralline encrusted lr. Easier to find the shapes you want and cheaper.

I like Fugi rock & tonga rock. The Fugi is good for building, but the Tonga rock kinda looks like branches. You can add some nice coral frags down in the holes. Once they grow & expand, it fills the area & looks awesome.

I have mixed a lot of different rocks together over the years and have realy never had any problems.

I like the Key Largo rock from Marco Rocks. They're definitely an awesome company & I recommend them to everyone.

I have heard nothing but good things about live aquaria and marco rocks. I would stay clear of ebay though, heard a lot of horror stories. Live aquaria seems to put different LR on sale every so often, so keep checking back until they put what you want on sale. Reef science has some nice looking Indonesian LR, but they are crazy expensive.

don't forget reefcleaners.org; they have the same dead reef rock
(as everyone else seems to have) and i found it cheaper
(free shipping). i also found them flexible in what rock to send
(i asked for specific sizes and shapes).

I think I am going to go with live rock instead of dead. If I were to go with dead I would DIY it and make my own specific shapes/sizes etc because it was really fun. Since it is just a 29G I think i will go with all live rock. You should look into DIY live rock, if you are going with dead rock to seed and make live, DIY is awesome!
