Brittle Worms?

Hi All, From past experience I really hated getting pricked by bristtle worms. My question, since I am starting over is if I should even introduce them into my tank. I hate using gloves but those needles are a pain in the A@#.

You don't need them in the tank... they are a great part of the CUC though. but definitely not necessary.
However you are going to have to be very careful in what you add to your tank though... You can't add live rock, you are going to have to use lace rock and let it become live. I once had a bristle worm hitchhike on a coral frag so inspect everything you add to your tank.

A Coral Banded Shrimp will help keep them at bay. I get a kick out of watching mine pull the little buggers out of the rocks and munch away on them.

Maybe I'm lucky. But I've never had the pleasure of feeling the prickly bristles in over 7 years of keeping my reef. I never use gloves and often have my hands. I've probably jinxed myself now.

You can dip the affected finger in vinegar to help dissolve them.

I personally love having them in my tank, they are great detritivorous.

Now hold on a second! Do you actually think I'd Photoshop my avatar? I spent millions of someone else's dollars to genetically engineer that fish, specifically for the purpose of breathing fire underwater. Oh sure, some people were maimed in the process and will have life long scars, but no one died. The fact that you would even hint that it doesn't breath fire, cheapens the lost limbs, seared flesh and burnt hair, that so many people sacrificed to make that fish.

What...they don't breathe fire?

Looks like I'll be crossing that one off my stocking list.

BTW, does anybody know where I can get some sharks with some frickin laser beams attached to their heads?

My skunk cleaner shrimp eats the bristle worms in my tank. The worms use to readily come out looking for food, now they have gone into hiding fearing for there lives!

Well, I'd edit my 1st post. But I can't. Apparently you can only buy a fire-breathing fire fish if you're the government.

There was this bald guy I knew that had a couple of sharks like that. I'd give you his email address but I don't think he's around anymore (sharks w/ laser beams attached to their heads were apparently a bad idea.)
