Good news... The Eibli Mimic Tang ate mysis and brine shrimp today. Still hasn't touched the nori yet though.

Well just like I thought, the FW Exit didn't get all the flatworms. Of course 99.9% are gone, but looking around the tank I found some more today. So I siphoned them out, and it looks like I'll have to add this to my daily maintenance chores for the next few days. Then like I said, I plan on hitting the tank with FW Exit again on Fri or Sat. Then doing a water change before I start up my Microbacter 7 dosing.

Also, I found what looks like is going to be a superstar coral hiding out behind my digi forest today. I completely forgot I even had it in the tank, and it's been growing away in secret! I moved it down where it can get some more light, and actually be seen. Hopefully it will continue to color up and grow in its new location.

Oh, and I think my Yellow Wrasse/Canary Wrasse... whatever... is a moron. Each time I glue something in the tank, whether it's a frag or simply relocating a coral... he starts picking away at the superglue before it's even dried. I hope I'm not going to be the first person who lost a fish, because it superglued it's mouth shut.

LOL He even quoted it with the grammatical error - for all to see.

This has happened to other fish in reef tanks, and it is scary but apparently after about three days, the fish is able to eat again.

Hey stranger, where ya been? Hope everything with your tank is still going well.

Yeah it's really odd to watch, I can't even chase him away from it. As soon as I move my hand, he's right back picking at it.

That's funny, I didn't notice the error until I saw it in Sean's sig line. I speak English... never said I could write it.

Well Marc, I guess it's nice to hear I'm not the first person with a crazy fish.

good to hear your tang is doing good ....

so hey what do you use to clean the tank walls? I use microfiber on the outside, and on the inside i use bondo applicator works freaking great, but i hate putting my hands in the tank.... the oils kill the head on the skimmer lol so then i have micro bubbles and what not. I am kinda skeptic about the magnets as i feel like they will scratch up the display, but was wondering what you were using. Your tank is clean as hell i notice lol.

Thanks

Haha, yer, my bad, uni has been pretty crazy lately, I've hardly had time to sleep let alone get on reef central ...
Tank is still going very well, still doesn't look anywhere near as awesome as yours, but it's exactly what I want for whilst I'm still living at home ...
Hoping to do a major clean, and take some update photos this weekend !

Thanks. He's doing well, and eating like a pig.

I'm disappointed in the color though, but I don't think I can turn the little guy away. I forgot how much of a personality Tangs have.

As far as the cleaning goes... On the inside, I use acrylic safe sponges/pads, and a Kent plastic scraper for coraline or stubborn areas. On the outside, I use microfiber cloths and Novus cleaning products. A magnet cleaner will never touch this tank.

After dosing FW Exit, and siphoning the remaining FW's out the past 2 days... I'm thinking about removing the Canary Wrasse. Turns out he's not really doing anything to help the FW problem after all. Plus my Mystery Wrasse beats the heck out of him daily.

No worries... just making sure everything was still A OK. Glad to hear the tank is doing well, and I'm looking forward to some pics!

Curious on your thoughts regarding the magnet? Also, how often do you put your hand in the tank to clean it with the sponge?

Yeah it makes me nervous sometimes as well. I replace the sponges every few weeks to be safe. Also, I always start cleaning on one of the sides and out of view. So if I would happen to scratch the tank, it wouldn't be in a visible spot.

If you catch anything under it, you can easily scratch the heck out of your tank. I clean the tank probably once a week, and it doesn't take very long at all. The combination of a magnet cleaner and acrylic is just asking for trouble IMO. My system is pretty small, so it's not a big deal.

My supplies arrived today from www.saltycritter.com and I did some water testing as well. Looks like the PO4 kit is going to be useless though, so I'm going to have to try and get my hands on a Hanna Photometer.

Also, I plan on hitting the tank with a follow up dose of FW exit tonight. Then hopefully everything will be a go for me to start the MB7 dosing on Monday.

Looking forward to your results mate.

Let me know if you get more PE after dosing the aminos.

Well I can't get a shot of the Tang. It's refusing to comply, and won't come out when I have the camera in front of the tank.

I probably won't be able to get a picture of it until I add it to the main tank. Also, I'm going to try and pull the Canary Wrasse out of the display over the next few days. I really don't see any benefit to having it in there anymore. It's obviously not eating the few flatworms that keep skating through the dosings of FW Exit, and the Mystery Wrasse HATES it. So I think the tank would be better without it's presence at this point.

Regarding the flatworms... I'm beginning to think FW Exit is a useless product. I've dosed it twice with 3 days in between, and still see FW's the following morning after dosing. Both times I've hit the tank with a 1 drop per gallon dose, the 30 minutes later a follow up dose at 50% of the original. Then fresh carbon is turned on about an hour and a half after the initial dose. Of course I no longer have them on my rocks, corals, and all over... but I do have to siphon a few small piles of them out on a daily basis that keep popping up in 4 particular areas. A daily task that I'm already tired of.

You might try taking the pictures of the fish when the room lights are off, so only the tank lights are on. Or wait until it settles in.

Sorry about the planaria woes. I have some in the front tank that congregate in the exact same spots in my angled tank. I'm about to siphon them out right now while I'm thinking about it.
