to say the least stuck in the 80's for sur even the colors are outdated and the music is like something you would find on a movie from the "back" of the video store

I know if I lived in LA who not to use for my tank maintenance. Heck, the guy won't even spring for a decent hydrometer or refractometer. And "Hey Fishguy, that undissolved salt on the bottom will make a difference in the readings."

Somebody needs to tell him that he could get a 100gpd RO/DI and run the waste stream from it to a 75 gpd unit to meet his demand without wasting too much water. I hope the LA water department sees that he has a hose without a backflow preventer filling his tanks with the hose submerged in salt water. If there is a line break in the neighborhood everybody will be enjoying on tap seawater.

His next episode will be getting a chiller for that 100 gallon. A nice quiet chiller I hope.

thats what I was thinking, rig up a float valve and no worries

I wounder if any customers ever see how he talks about them on his videos?

All he uses is dead coral in almost all of is services and he goes on to say "thats what the costomer wants" ya right, I have a feeling he talks them into it so he has a reason to come back and switch it out with new bleached stuff so he can charge for coming back every other week. This guy is ripping people off

his videos get on my nerves bad but for some stupid reason i just can't stop watching them,.. I guess to see what line of BS he comes up with next.

I know I know i need to quit bashing him but i just can't deside if his stubborn, one sided, out dated approach to the hobby is for real or if he really does know better and its to have repeat bussiness.

where's your video's? At least this guy is trying. He may not do things like you do but does he deserve this reaming? I don't think so.

No time for videos,.. to busy taking care of my tank and learning here on RC which is what he should be doing, insted of thinking he already knows everything like he does.
One thing he said in the third vid in the first post "he dont have time for toys'' refering to RO/DI units and refractometers, well if he wasnt wasting time with those vids he would have all the time he needs. What bothers me about him is that if you say anything to him even in the most constructive way he thows a hissy fit he is so stubbon to new tech and ways of doing things it not even up for discussion with him. And the excusses he makes for doing things the way he does most of the time isnt even plausible. I have never said anything to him but others have and not in a mean way and he still gets offended by anything other than "keep up the good work"

I have watched the videos and don't really see anything wrong. HAve any of you guys done maintenance on aquariums? Do you have any clue what people do to their tanks when you're not there? You guys think this guy is off his rockings but he's the one that came up with the jelly tanks. Not the easiest thing in the world to figure out.

well I think making a post about him is not going to make anything better. The great thing about reef tanking is that what one person does to their tank may not work for the next person. And if one uses an older piece of equipment to test salinity, as long as he has a base reading with it, it's going to be accurate. You guys are just being a bit picky with this guy.

badwrasse you're talking about third hand conservations. Come on now

Me thinks he should have kept those vids for his clients. He is rapidly becoming a joke on this board. He does have his merits but when he pulls out a swing arm and announces that the undissolved salt make no difference he is open for ridicule. His name has come up in a couple of thread in a joking manner.

Nobody is against the maintenance trade but if you wish to go public with your methods they should be rock solid, state of the art reefkeeping to avoid negative feedback. I should know because boy do I hear about it when I goof up.

and what if the water there at his home is so clean that the simple filter he has is all he needs. Did he state the condition of the water?
No, he did not. This guy owns and runs a business. I don't think with this economy, one would on purpose show the world these things if he wasn't sure they were OK. I think you need to stick with beer and BBQ's

I don't like to ream on anybody either, but c'mon this guy is a kook. So far i've watched the last 600G water and its quite ridiculous. He only used a carbon prefilter, not even a standard 3 prefilter system like the most basic RO units out there and whats his excuse?

"Well sorry about that, i'm at a different level you could say, I don't have the time to goof around, to fool around."

Its quite ridiculous. Next time I buy a car i'm going to tell them to fill up that there gas tank with oil because I don't have the time to goof around with all this converting crude oil into gasoline crap, i'm in business dontcha know.

how could you not see anything wrong

I cant say anything about his jelly tanks I think thats retty cool but what i dont see is him teaching poeple how to test water how to QT and things people really need to know.

im sure people mess with there tanks and mess things up but that not the isue here,
a while back I saw him does calcium part A and B into a tank without messuring or testing for anything (I looked for that vid but cant find it anymore so he must have removed it) and tells people it's ok this guy is not providing quality service almost every tank is running bio balls an no skimmer (whats up with that)
the people that hire out dont know much about those things and its up to him to educate them of the imortants of things like a skimmer and there is the problem, HE himself dont see them as important

these vids posted are just the icing on the cake there are other that give bad infomation as well but can no longer find them

Just keep it civil gang. Debate but no fighting please. I'm gonna catch the news and down a brew, as was suggested.
