I would choose it again without hesitation - although I'd prefer the bigger one if I had the dough. I really like the depth it provides for aquascaping plus I just like the look.

I'd post a picture if I could figure out how to change a jpg file into one accepted on this board. Can someone help?

Eric; thanks for the input there. For pictures, if u upload your pics to photobucket you can easily copy the image code and paste it on rc

Here's my 1 yr old bow front:

if I could redo it, I would want a bigger tank longer and with a little more depth. But I do love the bow since it's unique. Great size and allows you to keep many different fish.

I'm actually looking for a matching black wood canopy...any DIY plans out there or suggestions on where I can get one?

I have a 46 bow and I would NOT choose it again, it is hard to get good close up pics of anything with the curved glass.

Plus lighting can be challenging at times, as well as home made covers to keep jumpers in.

Just my .02

McSassy,

I found a Youtube link for a diy bowfront hood. It came out pretty nice and seemed simple to make. I hope it is not against rules to post them here. Part 1 and Part 2

This is my 90 Oceanic Bowfront--I have 4X54W T5 lighting retro fit inside the canopy--I got this tank cheap, but if I were to do it over again, I would get something with some more depth to aid in scaping--

This is it newly set up and acclimating corals to the lights(from PC's to T5's)

Left side scape

Right side scape

I wanted plenty of sandbed available for my LPS and some clams and didn't want to over do the rockwork.

These are some fascinating tanks! Loving the pics!

What is everyone using for flow? I have a Vortech mp20 and I am picking up a Tunze Stream 6060.

3X2100 maxi Jet upgrade kits. Can't beat the price. I would like to get a nano wavebox, but I am hesitant due to some hore stories of the bowed glass giving out.

Right now I have a K3 and modded MJ1200. But the flow from the MJ is too much for the sugar sand - so I'm going to get another K3. I need to get a more current picture up too. That was when my tank was cycling.

Hmm.. I understand your concerns, however that bowed glass is pretty strong. Ive heard stories of the tank being dropped a number of times and it wasn't breaking after all that..

check with Tunze on their forums and see if they can help.

FWIW, it's similar to the Vortechs creating waves

Anyway.. Which Tunze is that on the right side? And what kind of lighting did you use?
LeMoyne Class of 93 here as well!!!

I think it's the 6100 or what ever the lowest, yet controllable model is. Lighting was 2x250 MH w/ 2x54w T5s.

downhill, thanks for the input.

Ive been looking for a used Powermodule/Sunpower for a while but no dice.

I might actually buy an Aquactinics 48 inch combo 2 x 175 MH, / T-5 actinic fixture for a great price.

Fksbar,

Where did you get your canopy or how did you make it? What are the dimensions of it as well?

It's all factory made Oceanic. I do have a thread on here somewhere where Mario8204 and I discussed retro'ing T5s into the hood. He has a very unique hood. I think I mentioned measurements in there.

I have a 72 bow using a 6 x 54W Current USA Nova Extreme. I know, a Tek is better etc, etc, but Tek's costs a LOT. I have been really happy with the Current light, nice design, good cooling, plenty of light for the 72 gal. 6 bulbs gives you a lot of flexibility for lamp types. I bought it on ebay for $120 because it needed a ballast, 1 - $44 ballast later the light works great.

Sweet. Thanks for that. I didn't know you can retrofit a plastic canopy.

Well, I think I'm going to attempt a DIY wooden canopy with the help of a fellow reefer from this board hopefully. I have done all the measurements and have the drawings down...perhaps I will make a thread here while making it as it seems like the bow front canopy is one that is far and few especially when it comes to plans to make one yourself.

I'm probably going to go by mostly the plans of the videos you provided, but I plan on adding/modifying a couple things from that plan to make it more efficient and clean.

I'll let you know when the fun begins.

Yes, keep us updated. I know I will follow along.

Adirondack...so you're the one that outbid me on Ebay J/K. I don't know if that's the same unit but it is the same brand - I was bidding on one just like that with the ballast out but didn't get it. How do you like it?
