180 Gallon Reef system Built In

Hello All - We started a post a while back and just didn't keep up with it. The long and short of it is this - Once upon a time we had a ghetto fabulous 75 gallon salt water aquarium which was off and on in good shape. In Oct. of 08 it sprung a leak and then ended up in pretty crappy shape after a quick swap to a new tank. We had planned on some pretty heavy home remodeling and decided why not upgrade the tank and really try and make it a centerpiece and something beautiful.
Here are the pictures of our misadventures of remodeling and the road from Ghetto - to just Fabulous.

When we brought home the Urchin originally his body wasnt much bigger than a nickel... His spines were about 2 inches long... Now he's HUGE and spines are about 6-7 inches in length... The Serpant was in a fight with a large Hermit crab about 4 years ago.... He was nothing but a body and a 2 inch leg then... now he is about 13 inches from leg tip to leg tip.... He's awesome and grew back beautifully.

when I read the title was thinking built in, fish room behind type thing, but this is great idea rather than a tank on a stand against a wall.

Well done.

Very nicely done! I can't wait to do an in-wall tank!

Well instead of doing the fish room behind we had it plumbed into the basement - So the RO filtration, Sump Etc is below the showtank.

The flooring is a Natural Grade 4" hickory plank by Shamrock... It's fantastic quality, super heavy and very very hard. Beautiful with a natural stain finish. We really like it.
