The angler in the first pic is crazy. What kind is that? I would love to set up a tank for them, they are cool fish.

Where'd you find that guy? He's awesome. At first I couldn't see the fish, and thought the lure was the entire fish, and then I saw him. Doh!

yeah i have done research on the esca (thats the lure) and it is said to mimic a duster head and what the fish thinks, is that the worm has come out of its tube and free floating to travel. thats when the angler hits bang! they dead.

thats the idea. i have fed him green chomis that swim to hid under him...thinking he is a rock. the camoflauge is extrordinary. he even lightens up in seconds to mimic the substrate when fish are put in. it amazing!

i got lucky it was special ordered at my local fish store and came in as a sargasum angler. after doing research and posting pictures here i found out he was actually a shaggy angler a much more desired species due to him always being out in the open. he even swims around alot! hes a picture of him swimming

Is this a difficult fish to keep? Seems like something that would make a great article.

nahhh not difficult. hes very hardy but they are carnivors and expend energy so if you dont feed them they suffer. problem is getting a specimen that is eating . mine was eating at the local fish store and i witnessed it. so i scoop'em up. had a real scare a few days ago when he swallowed some air. do a search on "help angler swallowed air" in this forum. you'll be surprized what may of helped him survive. anyways once i did not feed him for 3 days and he was thin! very eager to eat too. i think every other day is good with this guy. i dont over feed him in a single sitting so every other day is required.

he is about 4 inches long . willmax out at 7 inches. tank is 20 gallons. he will need a bigger tank once he gets full grown. i plan on putting him in a 40 hex or something like that.

Great looking angler! Especially cute, the ones of him swimming... rare in other anglers that just sit around all day. Thanks for sharing...
