Question Super quiet skimmer with good performance?

My tank is in my room and I want it silent, I pretty much have it covered except for the skimmer. From what Ive gathered from the searches I was able to do when it wasn't disabled this is the skimmer that most people said would be the quietest and perform.

http://www.finsreef.com/product.php?...cat=253&page=1

It's a H&S with AquaBee 2000/18w

My tanks a 75g and my main focus is on it being silent.

So is this best bet and anybody who has this skimmer, is it worth the $400 price tag?

Deltec MCE600 is worth the price tag and is super quiet. I have no experience with the h&s.

Coralife Super Skimmer Series! Super silent and pulls out great skimmate. Also, much cheaper than the Deltec and Aquabee.

True, but with a recirc mod on a CSS, it comes darn close! I agree, the Deltec is surely the way to go, if you can afford it and have the space for it.

Get a Deltec APF600, not the AP600. You won't even hear it with it in the sump. I run one in my bedroom for that very reason. The APF will sell in 5 minutes if you choose to. I don't know if that HS will.

Alright well I just googled it and the APF600 is for a 270g tank and it cost some $800. Thats a little much for me and I dont need a skimmer that big, can you suggest one for a 75g tank 100g total gallons

My sump has enough room for 7x12x24 comfortably but I can modify plumbing to give more room(10x12x24) and lets try to stay under 500 and under because 500+ for a tank my size kinda seems ridiculous.

Subzero - both H&S and Deltec are sponsors of Reef Central and have their own forums in the sponsor forum section. They are IMO the two best needlewheel skimmer companies (excluding Bubble King) so you can't go wrong with either. I used the one you linked, but I had the external model and its an excellent skimmer.

I was going to buy a Deltec (mc500) but has to go on the tank. AP600 was next till it HAD to go in the sump, not external (under tank).

So Aqua C was my best bet. Hooking it up this weekend. Will let you know.

I can't comment on peoples (cup full) since a lot of varables are intergral to it.

AP600 does not have to go in sump. Its an external skimmer that typically sits outside of the sump.

Not really. I have recirc on one of mine and it's fed directly with overflow water and an airpump is on the ventrui. It's still not that impressive compared to my ER skimmers. And it's really not that quiet either. Not bad for the price, but not even in the same league to be able to compare to a deltec.

Im leaning towards the H&S just because its only 379.99 and it will fit in my sump without a problem, correct me if I'm wrong but this is still better than ASM and coralife super skimmers because these are fairly good skimmers also? If so in which way(noise, skimmate)

I got no room in my stand for anything external, my sump took all the room under my tank, its so compact that my 2 phosban reactors will about 6"- 8" in the water.

I was going to go with the ASM but many people on other threads said they were not quiet and thats how I got pointed towards the H&S.

I had a G2 and now the AP600. The G2 was a good skimmer, but the Deltec is much quieter.

I feel my CSS 125 is very noisy. I turned it off last night and my wife asked me if I did some mod to suppress noise. It's esay to notice the difference when it runs side by side of my Mag 7 in the sump.

I am thinking of getting a new skimmer too.

The good thing is that the H&S uses the same pump as the deltec ap600 which will most likely mean the H&S will be quiet. The reason I dont want to get a deltec is simply because of the price, I know this hobby is expensive but the H&S 110-F2000 is perfect for my tank and even a little more than I need(75g vs 100g). The deltec ap600 is rated for 200g normal stocking and 130g heavy stocking, its more than I need and its $235 more.

I wouldn't hesitate to get an H&S. They are very nice skimmers. Just a point that the 110-F2000 is not a comparable skimmer to an AP600. The comparable H&S is the A110-F2000.

The prefix "A" means it can be used as an external skimmer. Both 110 and A110 are rated up to 100 gal. But in sump version is a little bit cheaper.
