Marine Biology

At the moment, I am entertaining thoughts of going back to school and majoring in marine biology. Does anybody know of an accreditited program that can be done online? Can it even be done this way?

I don't know of a good online program, and to be honest I don't think any biology program would work online. There are just too many labs that need to be attended and things need to be seen in person, not just on a computer. I commend your desire to go back to school, but I'm not sure online schools will work in this case. But, you have this in your area http://www.sckans.edu/marinebiology/

I am familiar with this link. Like I said, I am entertaining thoughts and exploring options. Yes, that school is in our city, but considering that I still have to make myself available to be with our boys, if needed, an online program would be the best. I am also open to the fact that I would have to attend on a campus.

I dont know of any full marine bio programs that are online. Even some of the most wired schools, that also have marine bio, dont offer the program (ex. Nova Southeastern in Florida). The only program I know of that even comes close would be the mostly online (or so I believe) marine biodiversity program through UC San Diego / Scripps extension, but thats not a full degree program.

Believe me, if it were possible to do even half the classes online, I would've jumped at the chance. Then I could be out in the field volunteering on research projects and getting great experience while I was still fulfilling degree requirements. Hard to do both when the classes are in-person.

micro biology is a better bet if you want to learn more about basic marine chemistry...oceanography is a plus....
