Brain Coral Truoble.

Hi Guys

I posted thread last week about Brain Coral.

I have had him 4 weeks, since then he has started look like he is dying off a bit. In the photo you can see what i mean. Also the other photo shows location in tank.

Can you recommend the best place to put him. My levels are good in tank, everything else seems to be doing ok. Also at night I have not yet see any TENTACLES.

Please help.

Those guys do not really have big sweepers... What is your lighting, it seems that you tank lacks the lighting to have that type of brain.

I am guessing 24" T5's... what is the wattage on them? Are they the good kind or the cheaper kind... It should be enough, I would try and move him up closer to the light... its a maze brain, very cool coral...they tend to want a higher light demand then most open brains.

Also it looks close to your toad stool? that may be the reason as well that it is touching it or coming close to it and the brain may be losing the battle.

I hate how some LFS's will sell you anything. I was told that I had plenty of lighting for anemones when I had 4 stock flurescent bulbs. 160 watts over a 90 gal. Needless to say, I could never keep anemones...

You can try...most brains do not require that...but it would not hurt....I would move him away for all other corals and get it closer to the light and see how that does.

What's the brand and wattage of your t5's?

If you look at that leather edge and your brain edge, they look suspiciously similar in shape, like a jigsaw puzzle...
