Labragg, take a look at the venturi in the pictures, theyre different. The PCI ones also have the nice pretty black acrylic :-P

okay thanks for clearing that up. Either way the skimmer still does an awesome job thanks to the pictures from labragg1. By the way how easy is it to take off the collection cup and put it back on when cleaning it out?

Great!! I saw some initial complaints about it, but thought that it might have been a user issue rather than a skimmer problem. You know Id10t errors........

I actually knew a programmer who coded that error code into his program once "Exception error code ID:10T..."

We all thought it was pretty funny.

That is nice to hear. Especially since the skimmer is about 1/4 of the price compared to Deltec and others.

I can't wait to get mine. Now all I have to do is find some one willing to buy a brand new Sony PSP that I have.

Thanks again,
Bill

I'm glad I bought it. There is no way I could have afforded a Deltec H&S or BK.

Me neither--I'd much rather spend the extra $ on livestock!

Re: Octopus NW-200 Needle-Wheel is it good enough for 225 gallon RT

Also I have a very strict budget and have no intention of purchasing the overpriced Deltec's, etc. Please do not recommend those skimmers. I am looking for experience with the Octopus line preferably.

Thanks,

FIRST; I would NOT do business with Aquacave. I ordered a NEW pump from them and the one they shipped to me was the wrong pump. AND it was not even in the box, there was no manufacturer's documentation, or any indication it was a new pump even. (Didn't matter at this point because it was the wrong pump)

AND after going thru the checkout process and agreeing to buy the pump on their Ebay site and giving my credit card info the next page informs me they are charging a mandatory insurance fee and in another sentence they said non payers would be reported to Ebay.

I have tried to contact them within their 12 hour return notification window and no reply. I am now stuck with a pump that I didn't want at a price that was way higher than it should have been (for the pump I received) and there is no documentation for a warranty claim if I were to keep it.

Since this time I have done some research here on RC concerning this company and they do not get high marks. If only I would have done the research BEFORE I did business with them.

Thanks but my experience has been very good with them. I accidently submitted an order with them. I contacted them through their online form process and within less than 8 hours my money was credited back to my account.

That to me says volumes. However I understand that there are always different circumstances for each case.

Hey labragg1,

How clear would you say your water quality is on your tank? Got any full tank shots you would care to share as well?

Thanks,
Bill

Got my new skimmer today from www.octopusskimmer.com. The box was all beat to crud. Luckily though the skimmer is was in good shape. I really had no idea just how big this thing was going to be. It is ginormous compared to my little CPR bak pak skimmer.

Here is a picture of it with my 19 month old daughter to give you and idea of the scale of this thing.

I am impressed with the quality, but will have to wait until I see this thing in action to give it the A+++ rating.

FWIW, the design of the Coralvue in-sump skimmers has changed recently. The latest batch at my LFS look exactly like the PCI skimmers that I've seen (including the T in the body vs. the earlier elbow). I can't comment on the venturi for the in-sump, but the Recirc 200 venturi was the same as the PCI RPS-3000 venturi (except it maybe had a slightly different hole diameter).

In any case, the Coralvue and PCI skimmers being imported now appear to be identical except for the sticker on the front.
