T-5 bulb suggestions for Aquatinics 72 inch 7x2 bulb config

I am going to buy this for my 180g tank and an wondering what would be the best config. This unit uses 14 39w bulbs, 7 from front to back on both sides.

I am thinking a mixture of ATI AB and Blue Plus, maybe some UVL super actinics and a GE daylight or two.

Any recommendations as to how to set this up?

This tank is LPS, softies and maybe some SPS at the top.

Thanks
Ray

raynist,

Excellent choice - I ordered mine on Saturday . While researching my options, I got the following recommendation from grim as a good starting point: 3 blueplus, 2 sun (6500k), 1 11k and 1 actinic on each side.

Bill

I was thinking of these on both sides:

3 - AB
2 - UVL Super Actinic
1 - GE Daylight
1 - Aquablue Plus

Will this be yellow, white or bluish?

Any other suggestions?

Have you got the fixture yet?

I'd like to know what the bulb configuration looks like. I'm going to be ordering mine and would like to know if it's too blue, white, or just right.

You too wpar.. what's it look like?

Thanks
Dave

I just orded the bulbs today, got the fixture yesterday. It is really nice, I opened it outside and the sun shining on the reflector nearly blinded me!!

I ended up ordering the following bulbs from reefgeek

6 UVL Super Actinic
4 ATI Aqua Blue
2 GE Daylight
2 ATI BLue Plus

Well.. I just ordered mine. Cant wait till I get a tracking number.

I haven't got the bulbs yet. still cant decide

Tom at Aquactinics suggested this.

"As for bulb combination, it really depends on what look you are going for. For a white ( 10K halide ) look I would suggest:

6 39W Ocean Pro
4 39W Sun Pro
4 39W Blue Pro

If you want a more white/blue look, replace the Sun Pros with 2 Ocean Pro and 2 Blue Pros or even use a UVL super actinic instead of the 2 Blue Pros.

Thank you,

Tom
Aquactinics"

I recieved my fixture yesterday. Opened it up and it looks great. Still on the fence on what lighting scheme to go with . Leaning towards

6 39W Ocean Pro
4 39W Sun Pro
4 39W Blue Pro

Any comments on this lighting setup would be appreciated.

Congratulations vder and atvdave. Due to shipping times I won't receive my light until Thursday .

I would emphasize that Grim's recommendation of 3 bllueplus, 2 6500, 1 11k and 1 actinic on each side was for a good starting point. After that, you can experiment for aesthetic differences. What I consider too blue might be just right for you.

For what it's worth, here is the placement choice that I will start with given the fixure controls:
Front
Blueplus
Actinic
Sun
Blueplus
Sun
11k
Blueplus
Back

Bill
