Andrew,
You need to change your signature. If you can afford 2 Vortechs at 15 years old. BK skimmer shouldn't be a problem. ![]()

Steve, mine is running about 50%-60% of its full potential, and the pump feels warm to the touch, but not hot. Keep in mind, I have the first motor that was hand-built back in Dec/Jan, not the official version.
Nick, I saw it. It was neat. It was expensive. But it really didn't motivate me to even consider buying one. I discussed the premise that it is good for five years with the vendor. How do they know, for a fact, that it is good for 5 years? They don't have one that is 5 years old, after all. How long is the warranty? 2 years. Hmmm. Considering the cost factor, and the wet environment it will sit over, I would want a longer warranty personally. It had some cool effects. I saw a different (and quite smaller) lighting system in a canadian-vendor booth that simulated lightning, and changed colors rapidly. They set it that way just to show off its potential, rather than make your fish think they are on a PCP-high. ![]() |

I'm treating the A. secale for AEFW right now. It was faded, and looked like it might be infested. I doing a "Fluke" dip for one hour. It's been soaking for about 25 minutes so far, with a powerhead keeping the medication in circulation. The coral slimed heavily, and flatworms are swirling around in the water.

It's fortunate that you are so diligent in inspecting your corals and seeking out problems. I, on the other hand, instead chose to be in denial and didn't look for the AEFW until far too late, IMO. I hope that your persistence pays off and you never have to treat all of your acros. Best of luck with this fight and please, prove everyone wrong by selectively treating your corals.

I'm really not so much wanting to prove anyone wrong as much as I'd just like to avoid a major upheaval. Looking at the above image, I see what appear to be green areas (boring algae). I'm hoping that is a weird effect in Photoshop and not my coral. I'll find out once the treatment is over, in about 10 minutes.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The wiring is 12/3, and the cord is super thick. It'll handle serious abuse. The box says it is rated for 15 amps, which surprises me as I bet it could handle 20 amps easily. Each outlet has a cover to make it resistant to weather conditions, but obviously it can't be submerged or be in a major rainstorm outside. |

HD has several interesting power supply units in that packaging including a nice 4-gang GFCI pigtail box.

I've read most of the 18 pages. I finally gave in and went to the end.
![]() The grandson is doing AWESOME! He started out on May 17th weighing 3 pounds 15 ounces but weighs over 16 pounds now! The hubby is fine. Finally got his cast off. And now if the cabinets would arrive when they were supposed to the remodel would be much farther along. ![]()

Marc,
I have a quick question on your lighting. What MH bulbs are you using? I really like the look of them. I am doing some research for my tank before I purchase my MH lighting. By the way. Your tank looks great. Between this thead and your web site I have learned a lot. Mark |

Just finished reading the entire thread. WOW very long and informative. My mom loved saltwater tanks and I actually gave her a 29 gal years ago. She kept it until recently. I had been tankless for about a year and set up a29 gal FOWLR around June. That lasted about 3 weeks, picked up another 75 gal. set up. My mom paased away on July 3rd 2006 at the age of 54. I have been turning this 75 gal into a reef in memory of her. LPS and Softies due to PC lighting. Your thread has helped me so much. Now Iam at least $2000.00 in the hole

Don't think of it as $2000 in the hole, but $2000 in a tank full of water.
