Question Is there such a thing as a quiet overflow?

I need a larger HOB overflow for my tank. Is there such a thing as a QUIET overflow? The one that I have is a cheap one that was given to me, but makes an insane amount of noise...and my wife complains just about as loud. Makes for a very noisy living room. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to find something in the 600-900 gph range.

Thanks,
Dan

This worked on my overflow. minimized the constant toilet flushing sound. I am only running a mag5 as return though.

btw, how about using 2 overflow?

Keep the flow low. More flow = more noise.

Problem is that the Mangrove trees in the refugium are the filter system. I need to keep the flow up. Also, the return goes through the spray bars, and creates most of the current in the tank. Maybe I'm stuck with the noise....the gadget that the previous post linked to looks interesting.

I purchased this overflow for my 75g FOWLR, and it is AMAZINGLY quiet. The loudest part of my tank is the magdrive pump!!! My skimmer, uv sterilizer, return pump, and water flow are extremely quiet in my living room and aren't even noticeable once you are in the room for a few minutes.

These overflows are exact replicas of CPR's overflows - probably made at the same plant in china. Anyway, the quality is identicle to CPR and I haven't had it break siphon with the power off for over 6 hours when doing a freshwater test. I also purchased an aqualifter pump from marine depot for about $17.00 that will actually pull the siphon back if it loses it as well.
Worth the piece of mind imo.
