and then there was only one...

I started with 3 blue green chromis. One died early, right away. I got them the same day the arrived... should've waited!

Then all is well. The 2 remaining chromis have the run of the mill, nicely plumped up with full bellies. I got some live brine shrimp a few days ago and they go bonkers for them!

Until today, when I put a few more shrimpies in... only one little blue green chromis showed up for the live dinner!? Just this morning both were there... Here's the kicker, my tank is in my office. I've been here all day. There are no carpet fish chips...

I got a dragon goby 3 days ago, would that munch a chromis?

Tank looks good LH.....as far as the chromis, well the goby wouldnt swallow him like that, at least I have never heard or seen it happening. From my experience, that tends to happen with fish in the damsel family.....If you still havent found him, he wont be coming back.....check you amonia levels in a day or two...you will see a slight spike if you can find the remains take it out, if not....well you have a piece of mother nature in you office so you know what happened.

WE NEED A PICK OF THE GOBY!!!!

no sign of the chromis. I was hoping to at least find some fishy parts. Gone, vanished... I don't think I have a predator in the tank! I'll have to get some more as the last remaining chromis is looking a little stressed all by itself.

You want pics... I got pics! I also have a frag buying addiction!!

The Goby, tough one to take a pic of!!!

Sun Coral, man these things like to eat!

This sweet little yuma!

My daughter had to have a purple feather duster...

How can you not like Zoas? I've got brown/green, brown/orange, all green and now all orange

What is this? A hairy mushroom? A type of Yuma? It was a little hitch hiker that came along with a frag. It almost got tossed...

Thumbs up

I just saw this thread. Excellent job on the plumbing. No matter how many times I do it, it still ends up looking like a mess of pipes.

Oh and the livestock looks good too!

Hmm... interesting. It does look a little like one with the edge detail and fuzzy like texture, different color though... If what I have is rhodactis, it's only a baby (size of a nickle) because the one I just saw a pic of was HUGE! It's the one below and to the right of the hammer...

This picture comes from another RC forum thread. Other RC Thread

Here are a couple babies! A 2 headed baby hammer, pickish and white:

Baby torch coral, although it is much more purple than this shot. I must have exported the wrong image...

Nice work.....I think you will be needing an upgrade in a year or so. From what i can tell unless your going to become an expert fragger everything you have will get pretty big....

Some of these frags are very small! I can always trade stuff...

My Yuma is dying! It was doing great... for a day and now it looks like it's splitting from the edge to it's mouth with lots of goo and white stringy jelly.

It does not look good.

It may be shedding.....lack of a better word.....try to get some flow running over it and see what happens....and try to get a pic, so we can diagnose it a bit better.

It was melting down and lifting off it's rock. Even the hermits were checking it out closely.

I removed it...

All my other corals, and I've already got a lot of them, are jammin'!

I'm amazed at how much the sun/cup corals eat, and how quickly they can ingest a mysid shrimp. The candy canes are the same they just eat slower, but they love those little shrimpies! Even the Favia gets in the act.

Marine life fascinates me...

hey LH - my Yuma lifted off its rock a lot when I first put it in the tank, I thought it was from too much flow hitting it but it wasn't consistant enough so I figured it was just normal behavior.

They have feet just like anemone's....if they dont like something about where they are they will move....that may be the case, or it could just have been a bad apple.....or like BIGJ said too much flow....

No problem.....lots and lots and lots of reading. Most soft corals actually will move.....for example if you look at some of my tank pics at the top of the overflow you will see some tan colored objects, thats XENIA, how do you think they got there

Time for an update!

Lot's of additions as I continue to buck the odds and sage advise of those reefers that have come before me... Coming up on 2 months running and I'm already pretty well stocked!!

I have finally sited free form coraline! I was wondering when it would start popping up on various bits and parts! The rest of the rock is starting to go purple.

There have been a bunch of little frag additions, you know that frag addiction I have.. I've now have a small SPS garden with about 5 little baby frags and a 2" pink monti cap! Just realized I don't have pics of the new kids...

The wife gave me the nod to get a controller for x-mas! Now, I just need to figure out which one of the 2. I like the ReefKeeper 2...

I finally upgraded my water change system. I no longer need to do anything to the display and the entire process happens out in the garage/fish closet! I retrofitted a valve and quick release fitting to one side of the closed loop pump. Turn off the pumps, drain 5 gallons via the CL, fire up the return to drain the sump and the return section, then pump new water back into the display via the closed loop until it overflows the tank and fills the sump to the appropriate level. The entire process takes about 5 minutes and no water siphon in the house!!! I still siphon to clean here and there, but that is done via my "closed loop" siphon set up where I siphon water from the display into a filter sock in the sump.

Biggest addition is the new Flame Angel. Love it! He really stands out, very cool!:

He makes regular stops at the new local fish wash, he's already molted:

With some target feeding this little Favia is growing up nicely!

Still my favorite critter! I've seen him delicately tiptoe over my Scolymia several times. Man that thing gets's around!

My water is rather cloudy with sand and sediment as the goby is still pretty new.

Patience... what's that?

Not sure what SPS this pink piece is, other than a really bad picture of it...

My little stony garden:

Polyp Rock with 4 dif polyps or zoas, there's another brighter green one that hasn't found a suitable home up there yet:

...and finally a full tank shot taken 10 minutes ago:

That last shot make me realize that I do not have any side shots. My tank is half as wide as it is long, so there is a lot to the side view...

Everything looks beautifull. Cant wait to see what it will look like in a few months when things start to really grow out. Start checking calcium levels....this will help with the growth or everything from coraline to the sps....

I've got chronically high Calc anyway, so I'm good on that for now. My only param issue so far is low mag which I am dosing for.
