Can acrylic be siliconed?
I got my sump in the mail today (basically some sheets of acrylic that I'm assembling into a sump), and I'm not sure I trust the "cement" that was provided. I'm wondering if it's possible to silicone the pieces together in addition to the glue. Just to give me some piece of mind.
Thanks in advance for the help! |

Perfect! Thanks for the quick reply!
Do you happen to know if aquarium silicon is available at like a lowes or ace hardware, or is my LFS my only option? Thanks! |

GE Silicone I or II work fine, both are available at Lowes. Just make sure whatever you use is 100% silicone with no fungicide or mold inhibiter.

if you use weld on # 3 or 4 there is no need for the silicone. But for peace of mind I guess. Silicone does not bond well to acrylic and will literally peel right off
