Just ordered a new NW200. Will be here on Tuesday. On the newer models is there any mods that are recommended? Is the elbow mod still an issue? I been reading through the mod post for weeks but can't seem to find the exact info I need.
TIA |

wojo, I have the recirculating model, and it only came with 1 venturi. it was junk...I drilled straight through and put a 1/4" ID barbed fitting in(cut at an angle of course). I did a lot of other mods enlarging anything i could on the pump and the body.
Last night i enlarged the pipes that the pump attaches to the body, and made the pump volute a little bigger. It is now drawing 18SCFH and i think i could get more.....but i woke up to an overflowing skimmer and about 2 gal lost. Even with the 16" neck extension I think the DNW 110 will only hold about 17SCFH Jeff |

Got the nw200 today and it is all set up and running in my sump. I appear to be getting a great deal of micro bubbles in the display tank. Do these die down after the skimmer breaks in? Do I need a gate valve or is there another trick to easing these bubbles.
Thanks |

give it sometime to break in. it'll smooth itself out.
I got a 150 today thats replacing my ER 5-2, sedra pump went bad, well the magnet swelled up after endless maintanence, decided to give this a shot. esp w/ all the good reviews. I was wondering if anyone had done the mesh impeller mod to the 150 and what kind of results? |

I've done the mesh-mod to the NW-200, and it works great. I can't see why the 150 wouldn't produce the same result.

I did the PF4 mesh mod about a week ago I thought I would post the results here.
I used the two layers of PF4 and made the disk as large as possible with out them rubbing. Here is a movie of the OTP-3000 skimming in a bucket with a little skim added in. That forming a foam head across the diameter of a 5G bucket! Here is a clip with pump moded to the skimmer. I use to run the water level to with in 2-3" of the lip of the cup. The water level is now down in the unions. I don't have an airmeter yet but that is a pretty big jump. It has been running for over a week now I am very happy with the results. None of the variables have changed yet, same bio-mass feedings and such. I am getting the same volume but FAR better quailty skim Before After Alot darker and a alot more solid matter. |

Consider me in if you do. Would 3x3 be enough for 3-4 layers?

Just got my NW200!! It came with tons of cracks in the body. Looks like someone was carrying it around with the output plumbing.
Bleh, sucks.

I think a 3x3 piece would be good for one layer, but it sounds like 3 layers are best? I would take some if you do get some. That would be the PF4 stuff, correct?

Alright I'll go on friday and pick some up, and if i can make it to the post office in time to drop it off, it will go out friday if not saturday. All who want pm me. and on friday, i will go get envelopes and we'll call it 5$ for 3 3x3 peices. or enough to make 3 layers(that fair?). I'll do it on my pump and give it an extra inch so you guys can trim to fit your pumps.
p.s. i'm also getting zipties for this on friday too, so i'll get a big bag of em. and count how many i use and pack em w/ as many people that request till i run out. make things a little easier. |
