definitely diatoms. it'd disappear by itself, if your tank parameters are fine. check for nutrients, especially silicates.

Do you have any snails?
Are you using RO/DI water? Diatoms are fueled by a combination of phosphates and silicates, primarily. Most of the initial silicates can get used up and diatoms go away as other organisms outcompete them, but if you have a constant silica source, they wont. A source could be certain foods (pellets seem to be a big cause for me), and tap water. |

Nope, I don't have any snails at all. and yes I'm using RO/DI. Should I wait or should I add Phosphate/Silicate Remover?

Just wait it out. It's completely normal on a new tank. Don't add any silicate remover please!!!
Simply follow your normal maintenance routines and WC changes. It will eventually go away. |

New tank. Diatom blooms, hair algae, and maybe even some cyano to look forward to in the next few months. Be patient, and get some snails (you'll need them).

I would go ahead and pickup 1-2 small astreas, or turbo snails, if you dont have them already. Theyll thoroughly enjoy those diatoms.

If I were you I'd snatch that CC out while the tank is still new.

Yes this is normal. Soon it will turn green. Then a red slime may appear too.
It will all go away over time. Add animals slowly and do water changes (10-15%) every two weeks for a while.

I highly recommend turbo snails... they mow though the stuff and leave the rocks looking good as new. Really fun to watch

How long has this tank been set up. I see you have corals already. I usually hit diatom bloom with a new tank between 1-3 weeks.
