Should I buy a Mag-float?

Anyone have any experience with the Mag-Float for acrylic tanks.

I'm thinking about buying one but would like to know if it is effective in cleaning.

Or am I just wasting my money?

There fine. They won't get everything that will encrust on your glass, but as a means for daily cleaning, nice product. It's alot easier to go over the glass with a magfloat and worry about spot hitting the glass with a scraper here and there, vs. having to scrap all the glass with a scraper. I'd get one.

Can anyone comment on whether it is worth it to spend more money and get the higher quality ones (ie: Magnavore, Algae Free, etc.)

thanks.

They don't do much for coralline growth, but for daily glass maintenance they are great.

I had the same question about a month ago and decided to just buy the cheaper mag-float. I dont know what the others can do that this one doesnt because it works like a charm. I imagine its not worth spending money on the more expensive ones since this one has not failed me once..

I use a Piranha Float for my acrylic tank. It blows the mag float away. No comparison.

Just be careful if you have a sand bed not to get any sand caught up in the mag as it will scratch your tank. Otherwise they are great!

I had no problem with the glass mag float when my tank was glass. When I switched to an acrylic tank, I ordered the acrylic version and frankly it just sucked.
