Recommended books?

I've been researching lighting, fishes, and other marine stuff for the past 2-3 weeks and just need to find something filled with info. I was also at an LFS today looking for a book but didn't really know which one to buy.

What books have really helped you that taught you the most than other books? I'm mainly looking for books that describe species of fish, clams, sps, etc. Maybe tomorrow I'll be ordering them. I'm aiming at spending less than $40 total.

Reagrding general knowledge, husbandry and the latest on equipment I would recommend "The Reef Aquarium" Volume Three from Delbek and Sprung.

For Corals there are many but the tops will be "Corals of the World" by J E N Veron.

For corals specifically, I really liked Eric Borneman's book 'Corals'. You can get the softcover version at amazon for ~$25-30. Keep in mind, this does not cover any other inverts.

Two must haves in my book and should be read in this order.

"The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide"
Michael S. Paletta; Paperback; $13.57 - Very easy read and fairly short. Will give you a good basic overview of marine tanks.

"The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists"
Robert M. Fenner; Paperback; $26.37 - More detailed. Gives a lot of details on various equipment. More details for stocking.

I'll second the reef aquarium volume 3. This book came out about 11 months ago, and I believe that volume 2 was about 10 years ago. This is an excellent book. Pricey, but it is a great reference and very up to date.

Those are the first two books that I would recommend getting. Scott Michael has a number of good books on fish, if you want more coverage.
