combining reef tanks

I am going to combine 2 29 gallon reef tanks into my new 125. I want to use as much of the sand and water as possible. I'll have to add more substrate, but how should I do that? Should I mix the old with the new? Will the 125 have to cycle if I add in all my substrate, water and live rock from the other tanks, or can I transition the fish and corals as soon as the 125 clears up and stabilizes?
