water in skimmer collection cup

theres water in my skimmers collection cup. the water is a milky sort of colour. the skimmer came with the tank (ORCA TL-450) and ive raised the height of the collection cup to as high as it can be and that doesnt change anything. i can't mod the hood as then i would end up with half the lighting area cut out. what can i do??

To Reef Central

So you don't want to wet skim? Lower the water level in the skimmer body if possible to dry skim. Some skimmer do wet skim and you really can't control that much unless you want to mod the skimmer.

If you don't have a ball or gate valve to control it yes.
