Just How Quiet Should a Vortech Be?

Hi folks,

I'm not sure if I have my Vortech mounted correctly, and I'm curious just how loud the pump should be. Right now it's slightly less loud than the Coralife external pump I have attached to my skimmer. The tank is in my office, and the hum is enough to make me want to return the pump to Marine Depot. I've tried playing around with the pump to quiet it down, but so far no luck... It's louder than the fan in my PC, I'd say at least double the noise level.

Any ideas how loud this thing should be? Perhaps I have it installed wrong?

L3

It should be very quite. I can't hear mine over the Euroreef skimmer.

You may have some vibrations from having the tank thickness set wrong (just a guess). Not sure what else would cause it to make noise.

Mine shipped with a loose propeller screw -- finger tightening that worked for me. If you still have problems try posting in the IceCap forum. Someone there will definitely help you troubleshoot.
