Strong flow 24/7?
I have a 46 g bow with 2 modded mj medium flow and 2 seio 620 with a mag 5 return pump.
both MJ used to turn on at 11am and off 11:30 pm (light are 1pm-11:45pm actinic/2pm-10:30 all lights (T5)) , while seio's was on 24/7. every since I recieved more sps and no PE after more than a week, I have all powerheads on 24/hours. should I go back to my old schedule with the calmer waters at night and hope I'll get PE after 2 weeks? do sps like less flow at night time? what's your flow schedule?

varied flow is what I think is best. Can you put the MJ on a timer to go off/on all thru-out the day.

I used to put it alernating 1 1/2 hr each but it seemd to wear out the prop more than usual and not enough flow if only one.
Even though they are constant on, the flow seems to go in every direction.

Reduced flow at night isn't going to help an already falling pH.

I would side with smatter on this issue. I would alternate it in faster intervals (like 15 min on/off) constantly, but don't reduce flow during the night, off gasing and waste export will suffer.

My guess is alternating flow is going to be better. Although your flow with the Modded MJ seems random the idea that they are on all the time is the same thing as having linear flow IMO.

I was thinking of adding 2 mj900 on a timer alternating 2-5 min each.
so you guys have turbulant water even at night? don't the sps need time to extent their polyps at night and catch their food?

Maybe you could run a scwd or oceans motion unit on the return line

I used to have a mag7 in my return with scwd but when I took the scwd, the mag7 was too much. even with the mag5, I still have to throttle back a little.
