Reeflux 12k growth/color opinions

Can anyone comment on the growth they get on SPS corals using Reeflux 12k bulbs? I am contemplating getting them to be used on a Coralvue 400 watt electronic ballast setup. Does anyone have any pictures of how the bulbs look on their system?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
chad.

I have a 1X400 and 2X250W on my 180 for about 2 months
color - crisp white/blue, not a hint of yellow
as far being bright, they are not the brightest of the bulbs acutally i think they are pretty dim.

I like them overall but the 250W are too dim. I am prob. going to go back to 10Ks for the 250W

Thanks alot

I do like them but I like the 10k better. I use the 12k as suplemental lighting for the 10k. The 12k has a nice crisp blue just like stated above and I will agree that the 250w are not that bright. If you have any actinics I would really consider trying the 10k if you need strong par for color and growth. IMO they ar the best bulb on the market!

I currently have the 10k 400 watt reeflux on coraluve electronic ballasts, but they seem to have a little bit of a pink hue to them. I dont know if I like the pink color. Even with 2 6ft uri superactinic vho's I can still see the pink. I was hoping I would get decent growth out of the 12k bulbs. I know I won't get 10k growth but I was hoping for a little better than hamilton 14k's or xm20k's. Any thoughts?

I just bought a couple of reeflux (a 10K and a 12K, was free shipping at reefexotics) I replaced the Ushio on one side with the 10K and left the XM on the other side (it's still new). The reeflux 10K is not as blue as the XM but WOW, after a few days use, the frags that were brown for a long time have started to color up. I also noticed better growth.

I'm using the hamilton 14K 250W on icecap ballasts. I like the colour (White with a bit of blue) and the colour the corals go but they are not very bright, I dont get very good growth.

Can anyone compare the hamiltons to the reeflux 12K or 10K.

I believe that was an old batch of bulbs or something like that because I dont have any pink on any of my tanks. They all have a hint of blue.

i have a 400w 10k reeflux. i had 2 400w 20k km's. i replaced one with the 10k. it was amazing the difference. growth and color! i will be replacing the other with one as well. since i have 8 vho's, 6 being blues i think i am covered on the blue hue! so very soon the xm is on it's way outta here. when the reeflux turns off my xm stays on a little while longer. it's like the only lights that are on are the vho's. yet there is a 400w bulb burning. so you be the judge. it's reeflux 10k all the way baby!!!!!

Daddyjax- Thanks I have be thinking of trying these. But I have a hqi ballast already so thats what I would use. They would be less blue according to sanjay. But would have more PAR. I shue wish sanjay had specs on the 12k reeflux.

60cubed- what balast do you use?

wow only 5-6 months thats too bad. I suppose they would last longer on a e-ballast.

yeah it would be nice if they would last longer, but on an hqi ballast, they are getting pushed harder then norm but the color is better then the radium 20k imo-I have not tried them on an e-ballast but d-jax's tank looks nice, how long do they last on an e-ballast?

Better than the radium? Are they more or less blue?

less blue and the colors aren't as washed out with the blue of a radium- 9-12 months is alot better, the good thing is that the bulbs are alot less $$ then most also
