Has anyone had problems with Coral Lifes Digital Light Timer?
HI,
I remember reading online here that some people had had some problems with their coral life light timer. It was the dual one and not the digital. They said it caused fires. So I am wondering if anyone has heard anything bad about the digital ones? I'd appreciate it. I need something to control 4 lights. TY

I have one that hasn't caused me any problems. I originally bought it a while back for use on my chameleon cage (which contains four different lights); when I started on the reef tank it got moved. Now that I've recently started using an AquaController Jr. I'm no longer using it on my main tank and its going to be used on my QT.
My main complaint with it concerns the power setup. It contains eight outlets; four are always ON, and the other four are divided into two "Day" outlets (colored yellow) and two "Night" outlets (colored blue); when the day outlets are ON, then the night outlets are OFF and vise-versa. So that really limits you on your "timing" options. The one good thing about it is that the outlets are three-pronged (as opposed to many timers that are found in hardware stores, like what I'm using on the chameleon cage now, that are only two pronged). As for it starting fires, thats a scary situation . . . but one thats really hard to prove "what" exactly started the fire, and to say that another powerstrip wouldn't have had the same problem . . . how do you know?

I have had 3...they are very sensitive to water destroying them. I guess every electic device is though. this is coming from someone who shocks himself on a daily basis.
