tunze vs. ???????
Obviously the Tunze power heads are popular and rightfully so. Are there any power heads that can compete effectively?

Hmm, those mjmods look pretty cool. I might have to reconsider those Seios.

Tunze are like crack. Once you have it, it's hard to get off the dragon.... OK, bad analogy.

don't do the mjmod. i did it to a couple of mine, and they worked for a couple weeks, but now the prop keeps reversing, it hits the stopper and makes a lot of noise and doesn't do anything. i broke down and bought a tunze afterward, and i wish i had done it to begin with

Tunze has no competition, just imitators.

MJ mods are easy and cheap, and they work great...unless you do something wrong, leave something out, or use the wrong prop. I wouldn't spend the money for Tunze or anything else. The mods are just too easy, efficient, and cheap!

I've done 3 of the MJmods and it's really easy to do and cheap! I managed it with a broken wrist!!

The pump itself is only part of the equation. A quality controller is worth way more than most people realize for creating variable flow. The Tunze kits offer a tremendous overall package, but at a substantial price. You can weigh the pros and cons of various pumps all day. But, after seeing them in action, I don't regret a penny of what I spent on my Tunze setup.

MJMODS for the poor or the DIYer, tunze for the rich or the mechanically inclined.

I think the best competition for Tunzes is the Closed Loop.

Multiple 6000/6100/6200 on a multi controller - there is nothing on the market today that comes close to it.
Ask anyone who has this setup if they would take 110% of what they spent on it, replace it with MJMod/Seio at 1/2 price and I would bet 95% of the people would laugh at that offer. And I'm neither rich nor mechanically inclined.
