First coral gone! But...........
I got my first coral from the LFS about a month ago. It was a small piece of LR with yellow polyps on the top. Within 2 weeks they were all gone! Would the tangs or Hermits eat them?
But I have now noticed 3 weeks on, on the same piece of LR some blue zoos. There are about 7 heads in all, not to big. How can I encourage them to grow? i.e feeding them what, high up or low down in tank, lots of current or not so etc etc.

Zoas are filter feeding so you can't really feed them unless you put phyto in your tank. They don't need a lot of light, don't give them too much light or you might burn them. They don't need much current at all either...very little.

A tang or a hermit might have eaten the zoanthids, but that's unusual. They might have not liked their location, or perhaps there's a nudibranch that's eaten them. Many zoanthids can eat finer-grained foods, and phytoplankton might be useful as well.

Medium light and current for my zoas. No direct feeding and weekly water changes. They grow like crazy.

I have found that different zoas like different flow/lighting characteristics. I have some Aeon Flux zoas that absolutely love high flow and med light and eat brine and mysis shrimp. Good gowers also.
I have others that don't like flo at all and very little light. Move them around until you find their happy place. Trip |

I had a very small thing of zoos in may, now I have huge rock full of them. I put phyto in there like once a week, but just light will be enough

If they are disappearing I would inspect the rock there on for the possibility of Sundial snails. Besides that a little light and flow should do it.
Check this out. http://www.thesea.org/reef_aquarium/...sts_snails.php

Zoas do not filter feed. They feed off of their own Zooxanthelae. Some zoas will accept food directly but there is no need to feed phyto since they arent filter feeders
