Filtration and Skimmer Setup
This summer I plan on upgrading from a 55 gallon reef aquarium to a 90 gallon reef aquarium with an overflow. I am confused about the setup of equipment that I plan to have.
The Pro Clear Aquatics Mudd Filter that I would like is rated for a 300 gallon tank. The Nautilus Ex skimmer that I plan on getting is rated for aquariums up to 400 gallons. The skimmer requires a 900-1200gph water pump and the filter requires a 1200gph water pump. Everything will be placed underneath the cabinet. Does it matter which one gets hooked up first? Are these good choices to have? I have heard several concerns with the use of Bio balls. If I were to purchases the Pro Clear Aquatic Mudd Filter should I leave them out? I would also like to setup a calcium reactor also. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. |

To Reef Central If you want better filteration than just go with a good skimmer and set up a fuge for micro algae. Some good skimmers for a 90 gallon tank would be be a Deltec skimmer, Euro-reef, Reef Octpus, Geo, ect. You really don't need a skimmer that big. Go for quality. |
