i"m BACCk!I upgraded. Need some ?'s answered

For those who read about my panic last week w/ my 46 bow cracking and leaking on Thursday. I bought a 70 gallon corner on saturday./not reef ready though. I was able to save everything so far. my bubble tip seems a little strange and i don't know if flow has something to do w/ it. I went from running just a MJ 1200 and a Coralife 65 to 2 MJ 1200's and CL 125 Skimmer. Is this too much flow. My LtA seems happy, but the bubble tip seems a little strange. i haven't tried to feed yet. but i will soon. My tank is staying at about 80 degrees ( is this to high) because this tank isn't in my basement. Should I buy a chiller, and can I use one even though I don't have a sump.

80 and stable is fine. 85 is too high. If your thermometer has a MAX reading on it, let us know what that is.

There is rarely too much flow in a tank. Some species like low flow areas, but they can typically find them. If the sand is staying on the bottom, you don't have too much flow.

I dont know what you were running your tank at before, but 80 is where you want it. Anywhere from like 78 or 9 up to like 82 is where most people keep them. So no, dont waste your money on a chiller. Besides, there are easier/cheaper ways to keep temp down than a chiller.

and imo, no you dont have too much flow. You actually dont have enough by a lot. You're only at around 8 and a half times turnover or something like that right now. You should be at at least 20.

with a 70g tank, 20 times turnover would be 1400gph total out of all pumps (not including the skimmer tho). More is always better imo.

Like shags said, if your sand isnt blowing up, then you likely do not have enough, or you're sitting perfect. But in your case you''re way too low. Get stuff like seio's. They're better than maxijets anyways cuz maxijets give a pretty violent jet of water. Seio's and that sort give really wide flow that is nice and easy, and yet it still moves a lot of water.
