Phosban reactor vs. canister

I keep hearing about phosban reactors but have no experience with reactors. Will a canister work in place of a reactor? I have a 304 Fluval canister I use strictly for additional water flow and from time to time a little filtration if needed. I plan on placing the phosban into one of the canisters chambers and running it that way.

Your thoughts please.

You can do it that way, but a phosban reactor will give you better contact with the media.

if you push water past the phosban too fast it will turn to dust.
