what about cyclopeeze gets picky fish to start eating?
Just wondering if anyone knows what about this stuff is so attractive to picky eaters. I have a green clown goby and a peach skunk clown in quarrantine that won't eat. I've called some local stores, and they either don't carry it, or don't have it in stock. Anyone have luck diy-ing the stuff?

find a local asian market and get some flying fish eggs. They are orangish/pinkish, used for sushi and fish go nuts over them.

I may just give that a try. On a whim, I tried a LFS that I thought would have no chance of carrying it, but turns out they have cyclopeeze frozen. I hope my fishies will eat it.
I'd still like to know what's in it... maybe mashed fish eggs |

AFAIK cyclopeeze is dried copepods. At least mine is when looking under the microscope.

I really don't know, but I have always guessed that the way the little particles move around in the water column stimulates a hunting resonse. Most fish really take off after it.

Frozen Cyclopeeze is whole cyclops. Copepods. The Cyclopeeze flakes are dried cyclops smashed together.

Now I thought the flying fish roe (tobiko) was smoked. Like salmon roe (ikura). I always heard you shouldn't feed ikura to your fish, so why is tobiko okay to feed to them? Is it truly raw? Or is this a case like nori, where yes, it's smoked/toasted, and yes, it makes your skimmer go crazy, but fish like it anyways?
