powder blue tang

I am thinking about adding a powder blue tang to my 180 gall reef tank. The fish I have my eye on is a very healthy looking fish, plump and colorful. I have heard a lot of contradicting info on these guys. Does anyone have any success for failure storys?

If you are looking at the tang at Denizens I think it is WAY over priced at $113.00. We just came from there today. If it was me I would drive to Denver to see what you can find there. I did buy the green slimer frag from the back tank. 3 inch frag for $15.00 I couldnt pass that up.

What contradicting stories have you heard?

No matter how much I fed mine it would always rake/nip/rip my corals. Moody fish IME.

I agree the fish is over priced but is a very nice looking fish. The green slimer you got is not a green slimer (I think). It came from my tank and is an acro (I don't know what kind) with green polyps. She did have some of my green slimer last week and might have misidentified the acro.
was the frag from the tank with the mushrooms?

i have had my PBT for well over a year. i have seen him take a bite from a soft coral or two, but not often. i got him for $45 when he was about 3-4". he has grown to about 5" now. you just want to make sure to keep their diet varied alot. mine will eat anything i put in the tank. also make sure to have an algae strip for him to graze on during the day. in nature thats all they do, graze on the algae.

Thanks for the thoughts and advise.

Avs, the montis are not mine. Did you get any of those as well? The acro you got is one of my fist sps I bought, it's a very nice coral. It grows quickly at the top of my tank. I have 175 watt mh and vho actinics.
